To create this card, I made a 5.25" x 4" background paper using paper trimmer and blended the edges with pumice stone distress ink using a mini blending tool.
I blended with pumice stone distress ink and covered with Champagne mist metallix gel from decofoil using Bubble Wrap stencil .

And I choose Retro LightbulbsWord Mix #2 chipboard die cut and mini wood gears and coloured them with paint.

I choose a pattered paper from yearbook collection paper pad from Studio Calico for base paper and made it 5.5"x4.25" size using paper trimmer.

And adhere all elements as shown a top-folded card using double sided tape and a glue pen.

Altered Clipboard with Karla Yungwirth

Hello friends, Karla back today. I’m so excited to be continuing on with the awesome Southern Ridge Trading Company Design Team, and I can’t wait to bring you inspiration using the fun products in the shop each month!! Today, I’m sharing an Altered Steampunk Clipboard using the Steampunk Dragonfly Chipboard (sm)Mini Wood GearsMulti Gear Stencil and Fibers Stencil from the SRTC Shop.

It was fun to pair the cool steampunk supplies with the metallic embossing powders to create coordinating accents. The stencils add such a neat layer of interest of dimension as well! Those gears turned out so neat! I’ve used them on quite a few projects previously and I still have some left over. I love how versatile they are!

I just love how all the layers of powders melted beautifully on the lovely chipboard dragonfly. It did not warp at all even after heating it numerous times and was easily attached to the embellished clipboard with Matte Medium adhesive. The stencils added so much detail using both Distress Oxide Inks and Embossing Powders.

You can find the video HERE to see the process I used to create this chipboard wall-hanging and see how easy it is to customize the chipboard and wood pieces! I had so much fun combining all these fun products and really love how this project turned out!

Merry Christmas Card with Karla Yungwirth

Hi friends, Karla back today with a masculine Christmas card using the awesome Multi Gear Stencil and Mini Wood Gears. I decided to try the Alcohol Lift technique and love how it turned out!

I started by adding Ranger Alcohol Ink to a piece of Yupo paper cut to fit my card. I grabbed a couple greens, a blue and a mushroom colour. As I dried the inks with my heat gun it pushed them around a bit. Then, I layered the Multi Gear Stencil on the background and put a bit of Alcohol Lift Reinker on a sponge. I lightly sponged all over the background and when I removed the Stencil I layered a baby wipe on top of the background- being careful not to rub, I just pressed it down and it pulled up the Ink colour. I then let it dry a bit and lightly buffed with a soft tissue to remove a little more ink. I stamped Merry Christmas with the Wild Whisper Christmas Comfort 4x4 stamp set directly on the background.

I created a metallic effect on the Mini Wood Gears by embossing them with Emerald Creek Hammered Metal and Charred Gold Embossing Powders. I love this Jeep from the Wild Whisper Christmas Comfort 2x3 stamp set! I stamped it on kraft cardstock and coloured it in with Jane Davenport Magic Wand Coloured Pencils and added some Emerald Creek Pyrite Gemstones under the wheels.

Fall Mini Album with Karla Yungwirth

Hello friends! Karla back today to share a Fall mini album using a brand new Chipboard Mini Album that will be in the Southern Ridge Shop soon!

Last October our family went to Fish Creek Park in Calgary, Alberta to get family photos done. It was such a lovely fall day we decided to take advantage of the weather and the autumn colours and get some of our own pictures too! This album was perfect to document our day and scrapbook those pics!

The album has 6 thick chipboard pages with two holes in each one to add rings or string through.

I found an older Simple Stories collection- Pumpkin Spice, in my stash and it was perfect to add to the album along with some Recollections fall papers.

I even added a few flaps using some of the journaling cards in the cut apart sheet.

I glued on the patterned paper with tacky glue by first tracing around each chipboard page, cutting out the shape and punching holes to match the album. Once I had glued it down I used a craft knife to trim off any extra paper.

I used both the SRTC Soda Fizz and the Multi Gear Stencil to add Distress Oxide Ink details with a sponge tool on top of the patterned papers.

I love how sturdy these pages are! I used two metal rings in my stash to connect all the pages together.

Each page of the album gradually gets larger so you get a cool effect when you see it from the front. There’s lots of space to add fun photos and embellishments.

Those stencilled details add a fun and cohesive look throughout the album.

I added some of the wood veneer gears to various areas of the album - on the cover (above) I even turned one into a flower! Don’t be afraid to look at any shapes in your stash and see what different ways you can use them.

I love the diecut border edges - they add so much interest!

I even decorated the back cover. This was such a fun project to do!

Fly Away with Me Tag with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. For today's post, I'm excited to share with you my Fly Away with Me Tag that's perfect to give to that special someone in your life.  My Fly Away with Me Tag features a variety of our chipboard pieces. You'll want to read below as I share with you how to embellish the chipboard pieces for my Fly Away with Me Tag at home.

To start, take one of the Fine Clock Face's out of the package. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the clock face. Sprinkle Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the clock. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. If the embossing powder didn't completely cover the clock, repeat the previous steps in the areas that need more embossing powder.

Next, you'll need a Barbed Wire Circle Frame - Small. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the frame. Sprinkle Rocky Road Baked Texture Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. If the embossing powder didn't completely cover the frame, repeat the previous steps in the areas that need more embossing powder.

From the Med. Gears, choose one of the gears. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the gear. Sprinkle Hammered Metal Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the gear. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Choose three small gears and two medium sized gears from the Mini Wood Gears. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to each of the gears. Sprinkle Rocky Road Baked Texture Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the gears. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Cut apart one of the Scroll Borders. Blend Ground Espresso Distress Ink with a blending tool and foam onto the entire surface of both of the scroll pieces.

The last chipboard piece you need is one Vintage Scroll Key. Apply two coats of Hickory Smoke Distress Paint to the key. Once the paint has dried, rub Black Soot Distress Crayon along the edges of the key.

Once all the patterned papers have been layered all together, I then added the two scroll border pieces diagonally on the tag. Adhere the clock face and gear together. Once they've been adhered, add your sentiment to the middle of the gear. Adhere the barbed wire circle frame overtop of the saying.

To finish around the frame, adhere two stamps, a hot air balloon and the vintage scroll key. Adhere three small gears in the top left of the tag and two small gears in the bottom right of the tag.

To finish off the tag, add a burgundy bow at the top of the tag.
