Foiled Tag Wall Hanging with Karla Yungwirth

Hello friends, it’s Karla back today with a fun project using a Chipboard Tag,  6”x6” Star Stencil and the Primitive Stars Chipboard. I’ve been having a great time with the new icraft /Thermoweb DecoFoil Transfer Gel Duo and Foils, so I thought I’d combine them with these fun SRTC products and a Simple Stories inspirational quote to make a foiled tag wall hanging.

I started by cutting down the 6x8 piece of Simple Stories paper to fit the chipboard tag. Then I used the DecoFoil pen to colour in the areas of the letters and applied Ranger Foil and DecoFoil by allowing it to dry for a couple minutes and then pressing the foils on. The Ranger foil will work with the pressure of your hand, but the DecoFoil needs to be put through a diecut machine - so I used my Cuttlebug. I achieved a variegated colour by pressing parts of different colours of the Ranger foil to each letter and then running it through the Cuttlebug with Iridescent DecoFoil over top.  I then used the star stencil and the transfer gel to apply a thin layer of gel to various areas of the background. By using washi tape I was able to do only 2 stars at a time. After that dried, about an hour, I used the Cuttlebug again to press the DecoFoil on. I used 2 extra pieces of cardstock as shims and ran it through as if I was using a steel die.

In a similar way, I used the deco foil pen to coat the chipboard stars (which come in a set of 18!) and then applied Lapis Watercolor DecoFoil to the top, running it through my diecut machine to adhere. The chipboard is thin enough that it ran through the machine using only the plates I would normally use with steel dies.

I glued the tag paper to the chipboard, trimmed any excess and inked the edges with Kraftin’ Kimmie Krafty Kolours Ink.

I added some white rope from the dollar store to the top of the tag, and glued on the stars , using foam tape to pop some up.

A few Wild Whisper sequins finished off this inspirational tag, which I can hang on my wall or give as a gift!

Heart Wall Hanging with Karla Yungwirth

Hello friends! It’s Karla back today with a beautiful heart wallhanging, perfect for Valentines Day! When I think of Valentines, I think of vintage roses, soft pinks and cool reds and of course lots of hearts! I’ve grabbed a few awesome supplies from the Southern Ridge Trading Company Store - Plain Heart Mix , Mini Connected Hearts, Medium Arrow Stencil and the Love sentiment from Words of Christmas . I even put together a video so you can see exactly how this came together.

I used the large heart from the Plain Heart Mix, which comes with 7 chipboard hearts, as my base. It was perfect to cover with the pretty papers from the Vintage Valentine Simple Stories collection. Some Kraftin’ Kimmie Inks add colour to various pieces and I even grabbed some silver Inka Gold paste to add a bit of shimmer! A subtle arrow decorates the 3x4 cut apart card with a bit of grey ink and some Moonstone Glimmer Paste, and the Love sentiment looks ‘lovely’ inked with an ombre effect.

I used my Cricut Maker to cut the Heart Rosette from Cricut Design Space and added a 2x2 card glued to one of the smaller heart chipboard pieces for the top. These pretty connected mini hearts look lovely covered in red ink with a touch of silver paste.

Festive Mini Album with Karla Yungwirth

Hello friends and Happy New Year! Karla back today with a cute and festive mini album using the Itty Bitty Snowflakes, Snowflakes 713, Soda Fizz Stencil and adorable Mini Album from the Southern Ridge Trading Company Shop. December always seems to pass so quickly, and I never really get everything done that I want to do, so I decided to take some time to make this sweet tiny mini album with the December Scrapbook & Cards Today Sampler pack, which included these fun Doodlebug Designs Christmas papers, stickers and ephemera and embellish it with the SR chipboard and stencil products.

I started off by tracing each tiny chipboard page (2.5”square) onto the desired patterned paper, which I then cut out and inked around the edges. I used a Crop-A-Dile punch to cut the holes from the paper and then glued each onto the chipboard.

I recently won some beautiful Viva Decor Inka Gold paints from the 12 Days Of Giving contest by Creative Scrapbooker Magazine, and these were the perfect paints to coat the snowflakes! I just dabbed the sponge lightly into the paint and rubbed it on the chipboard. It dried quickly and gives a beautiful sheen.

I again used the Silver paint with the Southern Ridge Soda Fizz stencil on a couple pages for a snowy effect. This is one of my most used stencils!!

After all my pages were prepared I went ahead and embellished each one. You could easily make extra pages and tuck in some photos from your Christmas! I absolutely love the tiny Itty Bitty Snowflakes!! They are just perfect to quickly dress up any cards, scrapbook pages or tags. I even added some sequins to them for extra shine. This cute dimensional gingerbread sticker was perfect for the cover of the album.  I connected the pages with some hemp twine and blue ribbon from my stash and then made a little tassel to hang on the side. I added another little snowflake directly to the tassel.

The paper on the back of the album was so cute I decided to leave it the way it was.

I had so much fun making this album!! I’ll definitely be putting this keepsake with my Christmas decorations – it might even hang on my tree next year!

Noel Stocking with Karla Yungwirth

Hello friends! Karla back today with a pretty wall hanging Christmas Stocking created with lots of fun goodies from the Southern Ridge Trading Company Shop – the Christmas Stocking, Snowflakes (comparable to THESE), Words Of Christmas and Holly Berry Branch. This was such a fun way to kick off December, and would be lovely to do as a family project too – having everyone customize their own stocking and add their names!

Here are the steps I used to decorate my stocking:

1. I added sticky backed Cricut Vinyl with a pretty red pattern to the main part of the stocking and cut around the edge with a craft knife. Then, I did the same thing with white felt, tracing around it and cutting it out before adhering with a strong glue.

2. I used a Distress Paint Dabber to paint the stocking loop green and glued on some fun green pom-pom trim. I think pom-poms make everything more fun!

3. I glued on a toe and heel from white felt again and added faux stitching lines with Nuvo Crystal Drops.

4. I painted the Holly Berry Branch with my shiny metallic paints – I’ve had these for 15 years! They worked great to cover the chipboard with a lovely sheen of colour!

5. I coated the snowflakes with a wash of the white paint before adding them to the stocking.

6. I painted the Noel from the Words of Christmas set with black paint and then brushed it lightly with white acrylic paint before adding some Liquid Applique. As soon as you heat the Liquid Applique it puffs up like real snow!

7. I tucked some Mini Ephemera from the Tim Holtz idea-ology pack into the top of the stocking and added some Studio Katia sequins and Ranger Stickles – because you gotta glitter it at Christmas! A few drops of Glossy Accents to the berries and ephemera adds even more texture and dimension.

That finishes off this pretty Christmas stocking wall hanging! You could even use it as a beautiful tag to add to a special gift on the big day!

Peace Christmas Decor Tag with Karla Yungwirth

Hello friends! Karla here today with a beautiful Christmas decor tag using some fun and festive products from the Southern Ridge Trading Company Shop – a Chipboard Tag (coming soon), the 3x3 Star Stencil and Soda Fizz Stencil,  the Peace sentiment from the Words Of Christmas set and two trees from the Cedar Trees pack.

First I covered a medium size tag with Wild Whisper/Pam Bray Winter and Christmas paper.

I then used Golden Glow Cosmic Shimmer Opal Polish around edges of the tag for a bright gold shimmer. I used Nuvo Mustard Seed Expanding Mousse through the SRTC mini star stencil, heating with a heat gun to puff. I’ve used this star stencil on lots of projects and love how stars go with any theme!

I stamped the Wild Whisper deer head on cardstock and coloured it in by sponging on Distress Inks. Then I diecut a window from more of the Wild Whisper paper using the Studio Katia Elegant Scallop Oval die inside a Kaisercraft stitched square die, and I added some Distress Ink around the edge.

I misted two trees with Distress Oxide Sprays and then used Ranger Texture Paste through the Soda Fizz Stencil to create a snowy effect. Because the mist wasn’t quite dry before I added the paste the white took on some of the green colour, which I love! This stencil is one of my favourites too!

I glued on the Peace sentiment and added a pretty bow from my stash. I have to say it matches perfectly 

I glued on the trees and added a few Studio Katia gold gems for just a little extra bling!

Now I can display my Christmas tag or give it to someone special this holiday season!

This is the Good Stuff Scrapbook Layout with Karla Yungwirth

Hello friends! Karla here today with a pretty Fall layout using the Fall Leaves Chipboard, Abstract Frame Set and Fence Stencil (size Medium) from the Southern Ridge Trading Company Shop. My favourite season is fall so I couldn’t wait to jump into this pretty scrapbook page. I decided to go with a bit of a non-traditional colour scheme though, focusing on the teals and brown colours with a bit of mahogany red thrown in.

I love customizing the beautiful chipboard available in the SRTC Shop and this month I wanted to try Distress Oxide Inks. By simply sponging them on I was able to add beautiful soft layer of colours that blend wonderfully and matches my papers and photos. I think everything needs a bit of sparkle, so I added some glittery letters and shiny sequins.

 I added a Project Life Card to record my journaling and followed the SCT 365 – 2019 Layout Class Sketch as a starting point to layer on my papers and embellishments. A grid stamp and some Distress Oxide Ink splatters add even more interest over the background and on the leaves.
