Mother's Day Tag

Happy Tuesday! Hope you are having a great week and is involving something crafty. It's my turn up on the blog today and I used one of my favourite pieces which is HHP-559 on my Mother's Day Tag.

Here is the tag finished:

Supplies Used: HHP-559 from SRTC, Pion - A Day in May paper, Flowers from SRTC, and May Arts - Ribbon.

On HHP-559 I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink as the hinges are beautiful to begin with, as Karen puts so much detail into her chipboard pieces. I love how the hinges add to the tag and the image.

Supplies Used: SRTC - HHP-559, Pion - A Day in May, and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.

Here is the tag again with all of the elements:

Fun colorful scrapbook layout.

Hope everyone is enjoying the weekend so far. On Sunday evenings I try and take an hour or two to relax in my craft room to energize for the upcoming week.  Hope you can find some inspiration for your next page from my blog today.

To start of I looked at the colors in the photos and chose paper to match.

I searched through my stock and pull out all kinds of embellishments to match.

Making memories rub-ons and a few 7 Gypsies stamps.

For the accents and heading I chose some of my favorite Southern Ridge chipboard. I embossed them with silver embossing powder.

I didn't have enough good photos to create an awesome page with the accent just on the photos. I created embellishment block to emphasize the fun busy day and used the action shots in between.

To create texture I added some ribbon, yarn and leather strings through the buttons.

Hope you like my inspiration for the day. I would love to hear from you so please leave a comment .
Till next time HAPPY SCRAPPING Tanya.

All Geared UP!

Hello All!! Is April going as fast for you as it for me?? Crazy how time flies... :/

Anyhow, I'm back up on the blog today with a masculine Birthday card loaded up with Karen's chipboard gears and a few metal ones to fool your eyes! ;)

I started by embossing some masculine themed paper by Echo Park with a Tim Holtz embossing folder, then inking the edges & mounting it on a kraft card base. I then took my chipboard gear pieces (MISC-514) and coloured them black & bronze using Smooch Sprays. Once they were dried, I arranged them on the card face, leaving a place for the sentiment to go.

Once I had everything glued into place, I went back and added some metal embellishments to finish the card off. I used my computer to print off the sentiment that I wanted & used my Big Shot to cut it out in a ticket shape.

I am so pleased with how it turned out & how amazing the chipboard pieces are. So nice to just simply spray, dry & design!!

A couple of close ups for you to enjoy the colours that the chipboard takes on!

Thanks for looking! Don't forget to join in our ANYTHING GOES CHALLENGE here on the blog! Click on the button on the SRTC blog & upload away! Cheers! Have a great day! :)

Some card organisation ...

I have been meaning to make something like this for absolutely ages. It's such a nuisance to forget Birthdays and other special occasions, or having to create a card at the last minute. This is now officially a thing of the past : I present a custom made book to store my cards and record special dates. Here is the cover :
I didn't want the cover to be too fancy, as it will be used a lot and I didn't want things falling off. I may write something in the frame at some point, but the paper is so pretty ...

And on the inside of the book there are 12 page pockets for cards, with space to record the special events that are happening during that month. Once I have written the dates in, I wont forget to make cards :)
When is your Birthday again ? LOL

To make this book I used custom sized chipboard 0.060 depth from Southern Ridge Trading Company. The cover is 8 inches x 8 inches, the inner page pockets are 7.5 inches x 7.5 inches and made with 110gram card stock.  I selected this chipboard in particular because of the strength, durability and quality. If I had made this book from regular cardboard it would not have held up over time, it would have buckled under the weight of the cards in the pockets. I knew I needed a quality product.

For the cover I also used a frame, FRA-132. I painted it with white acrylic paint, then in a pale green - with a dry brush, you don't add too much water. Did you know that you tend to get a truer paint color when you paint something white before you paint it with a color? When the paint was dry I lightly touched a blue ink stamp pad to the surface, and clear embossed it - can you see the reflective nature of the blue in the pic below. I sponged the edges in brown distress ink. Finally I wove some flowers, also for sale from Southern Ridge Trading Company, through the trellis. It was all glued firmly onto the front of the book.

I punched holes with my crop-a-dile and used 1.5 inch book rings, with co-ordinating ribbon tied to them.

And finally, a view from the side :

Doesn't organisation feel GREAT ! LOL I think this little book will get a lot of use.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you found some inspiration here :)

You melt my heart

Hi fellow crafters.
I have been asked to be a guest designer for Southern Ridge and am thrilled to have the opportunity to show you how to incorporate their diverse chipboard products into your scrapbook layouts. I am a scrapoholic and my favorite embellishment to use is chipboard because it is so versatile.
You can decorate it to be perfect for any design, color or theme.

I have used the following 2 products from Southern Ridge
                                                   Flourish              Frame
                                                   FLO 481             FRA 486

Decorating the flourish
The flourishes was covered with a Top Boss embossing stamp pad    then copper embossing powder which was melted with a heat gun to get this effect.

Decorating the frame
The frame was painted with Making Memories paint and while it was still a bit wet sprinkled with embossing powder over the edges. I drew a few lines with a embossing pen where I wanted more copper to show, added more embossing powder then melted it with the heat gun .The frame was used as the background of the embellishment block.
The hart was chipboard which was covered with the same paper used in the layout.

Hope you like the layout. Till next time have a wonderful week filled with some creative time.
Tanya Grimbeek.

COR-420.jpg INS-255.jpg

The flowers were decorated on the Chipboard Swirl. I inked the edges with a soft brown ink pad.

For the Butterfly i used White Gesso. I sprinkle the Twinklets in the wet gesso. It is a great effect, what do you think?

Thanks so much for stopping by. I hope you'll like my spring card. I hope to see you soon :)

And please remember, our monthly Challenge is on - yes, it's new, so check it out!!!
