Seize the Day Card

Happy Wednesday! Today is the last day to enter our Monthly Challenge. This month it is all about our "Favourites" and we would love to see yours, so to enter our challenge you can add your project HERE. For my project I used a Wood Key, Feather and VIN-547. Here is my card:

Supplies Used: SRTC - Wood Key, Feather & VIN-547, Bo Bunny - Lovestruck paper, Bazzill Cardstock, Cream Seam Binding Ribbon, Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Vintage Photo, and Inka Gold - Gold Brown.

On the wood key, which is coming soon, I left it bare because I love the look of the natural wood with this card and the natural wood is gorgeous. On the feather piece, which is coming soon, I used Vintage Photo Distress Ink with a blending tool. I added a few metals charm from Emerald Creek to create my embellishment bunch underneath my ribbon bow.

On VIN-547 I used my finger and rubbed on Inka Gold in a Gold Brown colour. Because of how detailed this piece was I wanted to be careful and gentle with it so I wouldn't damage the piece.

Here is my full card again with all of the elements put together.

Thanks for taking the time and checking out my post. Remember you still have time to join in on our monthly challenge. I will be back in a couple of days to post this month's challenge winner.

Until Next Time!

Country Girl

I gotta admit, Arkansas gets a bad rap about being Hillbillies,
I tease all the time about living in the hillbilly world
but there is something so calming about country life;
 just being able to look out my front door and see nothing but nature.
It's a great thing.
So, kick back, grab a glass of tea and listen to the crickets sing.

This month, in honor of the country life, I've used SRTC's
WES-092 on my card.

Copics used:
Skin: E04, 11, 00, 000
Hair: E18, 15, Y38, 35

My Furry baby.

Hi Guys

 Hope you all had a wonderful summer. We had a great time but its awesome to be back in
 our  routine. With fall upon us it is time to scrapbook all our memories and reflect on the wonderful days of summer. Very soon we will be busy with Halloween,Thanksgiving,Christmas and we will have a whole new file full of memories to put down on paper.

I had time to play with my fur baby in the sunshine and took some awesome photos for my album.

I chose the chipboard to add dimension to my page. I love to work with Southern Ridge Tradings flourishes. This is the large Frame and Flourish set.  On this page I only used the flourishes and will use the frame in my next blog.

LRFRM -573

I painted the flourish with a acrylic paint and added ribbon, buttons, brads and metal words to create texture. I always use fluid chalk ink pads to edge my card stock and photos to create a finished look to the page.

I hope that you enjoyed my layout. Happy scrapping till next time.

More of my favourite things!

I'm back! Hope you're getting involved in our fun September Challenge & sharing with us some of your favourite things too!

Being a paper crafter, there are so many things that we all consider our "favourites". Things we use all the time, things we tend to make, tools we use, our favourite manufacturers... the list could go on & on!

Well my favourite projects to make are mini albums! I had a blast making this 6x6 mini using black file folders and one of my favourite paper lines from Marion Smith... and of course, I used some awesome chipboard embellishments from my favourite chipboard supplier, Karen at Southern Ridge Trading Company LOL! :P

I used two of the hinges from the package HHP-559 and covered them with the Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist called Pinecone. It covers the chipboard so well and makes it look amazing!

I also tucked in the flowers, the chipboard piece NAT-321. The bird on the branch is so classic & pretty! I spritzed it the same colour as the hinges to maintain my theme, and then added the flowers, gem stones & a dragon fly brad to finish it off!

We're always thrilled to see you join in our challenges & share with us! So keep those entries coming! And keep on enjoying ALL of your favourite thins! Cheers! Melissa :D

late summer meets christmas - two cards

Hi Southern Ridge Friends, it's me, Dunja i'm here to show you some inspirations today.

It's late summer and you can enjoy the sunshine. The fields will be harvested and before you know it, summer is over and autumn finds its way. A short time after that begins the Advent and Christmas time .... {STOP} No, I do not want to, so not yet, just two little christmas cards, nothing more :)) And here they are!

For the first card I've used two of the beautiful pine cones chipboards of Southern Ridge and the beautiful papers from Teresa Collins. One Chipboard part I embossed with gold.

The second card got a reindeer as the motive, which I have embossed also. For both cards I've used a paper doily and my MFT Dies.

Thanks a lot for stopping by. Have a beautiful Sunday.

Hugs

Southern Ridge Trading Company - My Favourites!

Hello, I have been away for some time enjoying life and the summer sun.  Looks like fall is here so have the crafting bug.  I would like to let you know that I have been accepted on the Southern Ridge Trading Company Design team and I am soooooooo excited.  The theme this month is "My Favourites".  Today is my first post and my I am excited to share with you one of my passions, camping.  Oh and don't forget to go to the Southern Ridge Trading Company blog and see what amazing creations  the talented design team have for you.

Here is my project for today.

 All the dies and chipboard on my project are from Southern Ridge Trading Company.  I added molding paste, stencils, paint, burlap and so much more.   Here are some pictures of the multimedia board in action.

 It's always a good idea to lay out what you want to use and play with it until it is exactly how you want it.  I learned from wise friends to always take a picture so you remember where you wanted things to go.  Priceless advise.  I painted the board with white gesso.

Now to add some texture and colour.  I used various sprays, burlap ribbon and molding paste over a Tim Holtz stencil.

I added more molding paste over stencils, which names escape me at the moment, and added clouds with Snow Texture.

I couldn't help myself, had to add a marshmallow.  I used white liquid aplique and heated it with a heat gun until it puffed and started to burn, turning some bits brown.

Voila, finished product.  Please feel free to play along at the SRTC blog.

Wanna build a Snowman?

I love the movie Frozen.
Who doesn't?
A couple months ago, my family vacationed in Arizona.
A lot of hubbies family lives there.
One of our nieces was having her first birthday.
Off to the Disney Store we went and found the cutest, 1 year old friendly, Anna and Elise dolls.
I had to get both dolls cause duh, they are sisters and...
cause little Angelina has an older sister and I was covering my bases.
In all the excitement, older sister wanted to know who got "her" her new favorite toys. :D
Well now that I have most favorite Aunt role to live up to, I wanted to make her a card for her upcoming day with this super adorable Snowman, who I made to look like Olaf.

 this is Sea-494

I first painted him white, then colored him with pencils to get some shading.
Next, I applied a thin layer of glue and applied ECD glitter.
I cut a small piece of felt for his nose and stuck it through the opening,
carefully shaping and glued it secure.
Teeth are again, felt cut to shape; carefully tucked through and secured with glue.
His mouth is two pieces of twine glued a top one another and sprayed black.
 The hair is the twine unwound and painted white.
His eyes are googly metal eye brads and
a few glitter poms for his buttons and...
Lastly, yepper his arms are dead twigs from my flower that didn't quite make the heat.
I though Olaf needed to be in a nice warm climate...so I printed off an image from free backgrounds.
Who would you model your snowman after?
He's a blast to do. I hope you try one out too.

Don't forget this month's challenge is Favorites.
Olaf covers lots of mine: Frozen, glitter, snow, birthdays, my nieces. and many more.

Big Hugs,
Dorinda

A Few of my Favorite Things

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The words are always sung in my head when I hear the phrase, "These are a few of my favourite things..." so when I saw that the theme for September was going to be just that, I knew exactly what I was going to do!
Anyone who is close to me knows that I collect mice and that I love humming birds. So when I saw this House Mouse stamped image, I just had to colour it with my Spectrum Noir alcohol ink markers & use it for my first Design Team project this month!
I chose to frame my image using Karen's chipboard corners COR-485. I sprayed them a lovely spray from Tattered Angels called Dragon Fly. Once the spray had dried, I framed my image on the card, added a title & some embellishments & voilĂ !
I love how it all comes together so quickly & nicely!
So now it's your turn to join in this month's challenge & show us a few of your favourite things!!
Have fun creating! Thanks for looking -- CHEERS! :)
