Summer Breeze Journal by Karen Jiles

Hi there,

It’s Karen, sharing a Summer Breeze Journal that I created with the Ocean Mix and Nautical Mix chipboard sets. I really enjoyed creating with both sets and coordinating the sets with my choice of patterned papers.  The chipboard pieces were super easy to alter with embellishment mousse and a perfect option for fun projects like this journal. Take a peek at how the journal came together in the tutorial below.

Step 1: Using scissors, cut chipboard from framed set.

Step 2: Apply Nuvo Embellishment mousse (Soft Truffle, Blue) to chipboard using foam applicator. Heat with heat tool and set aside.

Step 3: Trim patterned papers to layering sizes and sand with sanding bar.

Step 4: Run layers of patterned paper through Xyron machine to apply adhesive. Adhere layers to the journal cover.

Masculine Happy Birthday Card with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. Next month, there are a lot of mens birthdays that need cards, so I have started to create some masculine birthday cards. Today's project is you guessed it, a Masculine Happy Birthday Card perfect to give to that special man in your life. You'll want to read below as I share with you how I created my Happy Birthday Card at home.

To embellish the top piece of patterned paper, I laid the Under the Sea Bubbles Stencil on the paper and spread texture paste - transparent matte using a palette knife. Remove the stencil and allow the patterned paper to dry. On the second patterned paper piece, I adhered a piece of the Fence pattern in the bottom left hand corner.  The fence pattern was given two coats of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain and rubbed Black Soot Distress Crayon over the piece with my finger.

To embellish the clock and key hole, I embossed them using Boho Blends - Turkish Bronze Embossing Powder. For the vintage sign, I embossed it with an embossing folder and then painted it using Hickory Smoke Distress Paint. To embellish the abstract frame, I embossed it using Boho Blends - Wrought Iron Embossing Powder. For the Happy Birthday, it was painted using Hickory Smoke Distress Paint and then rubbing with a finger Black Soot Distress Crayon on the sentiment.
For the nuts and bolts, they were given two coats of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain and then rubbing with a finger Black Soot Distress Crayon.

In the top right side on the second patterned paper piece, I adhered another piece of the Fence pattern in the top right hand corner. The fence pattern was given two coats of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain and rubbed Black Soot Distress Crayon over the piece with my finger.

Here is the finished Masculine Happy Birthday Card.

Scatter Kindness Like Confetti Scrapbook Layout with Karla Yungwirth

Hello friends, it’s Karla back today with a pretty spring layout using the Foliage Pieces and Wild Flower Bouquet Chipboard and Loop Stencil from the Southern Ridge Trading Company Store. I decided to try customizing the chipboard pieces with some of the Ranger Pearl Alcohol Inks that are available. Since they are more opaque than the regular Alcohol Inks because of the pearl mixative, they worked really well to colour the chipboard, giving it a soft, shimmery effect! Be sure to scroll to the bottom to find the video link where you can see how fun this technique is!

I tucked the Foliage Pieces in and around some Simple Stories diecut flowers and layered some stickers on creating clusters around my page.

The Alcohol Pearl Inks were easily applied to the chipboard pieces with a felt pad. I love the mottled look of the Pearl Inks on this beautiful Wild Flower Bouquet!

The Stencils in the SRTC Shop are beautifully detailed! I used a brush to add colour on the base of my layout with Distress Oxide Inks in colours that coordinated with the papers and embellishments.

You can see the steps I used to create this layout and how easy it is to customize chipboard with Alcohol Inks in this video here – https://youtu.be/LMHd_QwYnTs

Chai Tea Scrapbook Layout with Gloria Lee

Hello crafty friends!

Gloria here today and happy to share of my project.
I made a scrapbooking layout using Chai tea and Butterfly mix chipboard die cut from SRTC.

These beautiful chipboards are available at the Southern Ridge Trading Company Shop.

With these chipboards, I made a decorative board.

I prepared a 7x9 size white canvas board.
And coloured it with various colours.
I coloured the chipboards with white paint.

Once the panel completely dry, I adhere the chipboards on the coloured panel using double sided tape and Zig glue pen.

I made blossoms with Rose creations die set from Spellbinders.

And added some Spring colours sequins.
