Masculine Happy Birthday Card with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. Next month, there are a lot of mens birthdays that need cards, so I have started to create some masculine birthday cards. Today's project is you guessed it, a Masculine Happy Birthday Card perfect to give to that special man in your life. You'll want to read below as I share with you how I created my Happy Birthday Card at home.

To embellish the top piece of patterned paper, I laid the Under the Sea Bubbles Stencil on the paper and spread texture paste - transparent matte using a palette knife. Remove the stencil and allow the patterned paper to dry. On the second patterned paper piece, I adhered a piece of the Fence pattern in the bottom left hand corner.  The fence pattern was given two coats of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain and rubbed Black Soot Distress Crayon over the piece with my finger. 

To embellish the clock and key hole, I embossed them using Boho Blends - Turkish Bronze Embossing Powder. For the vintage sign, I embossed it with an embossing folder and then painted it using Hickory Smoke Distress Paint. To embellish the abstract frame, I embossed it using Boho Blends - Wrought Iron Embossing Powder. For the Happy Birthday, it was painted using Hickory Smoke Distress Paint and then rubbing with a finger Black Soot Distress Crayon on the sentiment.

For the nuts and bolts, they were given two coats of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain and then rubbing with a finger Black Soot Distress Crayon. 

In the top right side on the second patterned paper piece, I adhered another piece of the Fence pattern in the top right hand corner. The fence pattern was given two coats of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain and rubbed Black Soot Distress Crayon over the piece with my finger. 

Here is the finished Masculine Happy Birthday Card.

Wonderful Tag with Gloria Lee

Hello crafty friends!

Gloria here today and happy to share of my project.

 I made a big tag using Fine Clock Face and Word Mix #2 chipboard die cut from SRTC.

These beautiful chipboards are available at the Southern Ridge Trading Company Shop.

Here it is :

First, I choose the the a Fine Clock Face and 'Wonderful' chipboard die cut and coloured them with acrylic paint. 

I used dark blue and purple colours.

And then I made a big tag.

I die cut for the tag using big tag die and blended it with fossilized amber, twisted citron, cracked pistachio, picked raspberry Distress Oxide inks using mini blending tools.

I stamped on the tag with triangles clear stamp from Kaiser craft, Finnabair clear stamp from Prima and Stormy sea, Scarlet Jewel dye inks from Papertrey ink.

And adhere the coloured chipboard die cut on the big tag using Zig glue pen.

And I added some blossoms and  blue trim.

Celebrate You Scrapbook Layout with Charlene Byrd

Charlene here! Thanks for joining me today. Today I’m sharing with you the last project I will be doing for Southern Ridge Trading Company. It has been an honour and a privilege designing for Southern Ridge. One of my jobs is designing and prepping scrapbook page kits and therefore I always feel the need to ‘work’ on my scrapbook business which means I don’t ever take the time to design for myself, I mean never! For that reason, I have loved being a part of the SR design team as it forced me to create for myself. And I’m so happy that I’ve created some beautiful pages using Southern Ridges awesome chipboard pieces.

I chose my most favourite chipboard piece for this last layout. It’s simple yet classic and can be used on almost any page. I choose to cut it apart and tuck the pieces on each side of my layout.

Thank you so much for following me over the last 2 years. I have truly loved my time with Southern Ridge and thank them for allowing me to be a part of their team. Hooray It's Autumn Time Tag with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. For today's post, I was inspired by the weather change here on Vancouver Island. The rain is in full swing now and it feels like Autumn is here, even though Fall hasn't officially started. With Fall on my mind, this Hooray It's Autumn Time Tag.  To embellish my tag, I featured a variety of our popular fall themed chipboard pieces. You'll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my tag at home.

To start, choose a feather that looks as close to a leaf out of the Tribal Feather Mix. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the feather. Sprinkle Vintage Ivy Embossing Powder overtop of the feather. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Take one of the Skeleton Leaf out of the package. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the leaf. Sprinkle Weathered Wood Embossing Powder overtop of the leaf. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

From the Skeleton Maple Leaf package, take one out of the package. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the leaf. Sprinkle Baked Texture - Chunky Rust Embossing Powder overtop of the leaf. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Take a Fine Clock Face out of the package. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the leaf. Sprinkle Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder overtop of the leaf. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

From the Pumpkin Leaves, take two out of the package. Apply two coats of Peeled Paint Distress Paint to each pumpkin leaf. Once the paint has fried, rub Forest Moss Distress Crayon along the edges of the leaves using your finger.

Take three Mini Wood Maple Leaves out of the package. Apply two coats of Candied Apple Distress Stain to two of the leaves. Apply two coats of Spiced Marmalade Distress Stain on one of the leaves. Once the stain has dried on all three leaves, rub Walnut Stain Distress Ink along the edges of the leaves using your finger.

Trace the Chipboard Tag onto a piece of patterned paper. Cut the patterned paper tag out. Ink the edges of the chipboard tag and patterned paper tag using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From a second piece of patterned paper, cut a piece that measures 2 3/4" x 3 5/8". Ink the edges of the patterned paper piece using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the same collection, fussy cut the Hooray It's Autumn Time out of the border strip. Cut the words apart. Ink the edges of the words using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Adhere the patterned paper tag to the chipboard tag. Adhere the 2 3/4" patterned paper piece to the patterned paper tag.

Adhere the Fine Clock Face to the middle of the tag. Adhere one of the pumpkin leaves to the top right side of the clock face. Adhere the other pumpkin leaf to the middle left side of the clock. Punch a hole at the top of the tag.

Adhere the Vintage Ivy Feather 1" from the left and 1 1/8" from the bottom of the tag. Adhere the weathered wood leaf to the left side of the Vintage Ivy Feather. Adhere the Chunky Rust wood leaf slightly overtop of the weathered wood leaf and partly overtop of the pumpkin leaf.

Adhere on of the red maple leaves in the top right corner of the tag. Adhere the other red leaf and orange leaf to the bottom left corner of the tag.

Adhere the Hooray It's Autumn Time sentiment  onto your tag. To finish off your tag, tie a piece of dark orange seam binding ribbon to the top of the tag.

Altered Hat with Tracy Sagriff

Today's project is a little bit steampunk and a whole lot of shabby chic. The pretty colours and fun diecuts make this project come to life.

Begin by painting the entire hat with rose gold. Be sure to get the bottom of the brim.

Once dry paint use white paint from the brim of the hat to the edge of the faux hat band. Then paint the uppermost part of the brim white.

Distress  the paint using sandpaper or wire brushes. 

Use the rose gold paint and the stencil to create a pattern over the white paint.

Apply dollar store gems around the top and bottom of the faux hat band.

Paint the bird and pocketwatch pieces bronze.

Paint the leaves and flourish with green and turquoise.

Arrange rolled paper flowers and adhere to hat. 

Adhere the remaining pieces as desired.

Fly Away with Me Tag with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. For today's post, I'm excited to share with you my Fly Away with Me Tag that's perfect to give to that special someone in your life.  My Fly Away with Me Tag features a variety of our chipboard pieces. You'll want to read below as I share with you how to embellish the chipboard pieces for my Fly Away with Me Tag at home.

To start, take one of the Fine Clock Face's out of the package. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the clock face. Sprinkle Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the clock. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. If the embossing powder didn't completely cover the clock, repeat the previous steps in the areas that need more embossing powder.

Next, you'll need a Barbed Wire Circle Frame - Small. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the frame. Sprinkle Rocky Road Baked Texture Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. If the embossing powder didn't completely cover the frame, repeat the previous steps in the areas that need more embossing powder.

From the Med. Gears, choose one of the gears. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the gear. Sprinkle Hammered Metal Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the gear. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. 

Choose three small gears and two medium sized gears from the Mini Wood Gears. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to each of the gears. Sprinkle Rocky Road Baked Texture Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the gears. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. 

Cut apart one of the Scroll Borders. Blend Ground Espresso Distress Ink with a blending tool and foam onto the entire surface of both of the scroll pieces. 

The last chipboard piece you need is one Vintage Scroll Key. Apply two coats of Hickory Smoke Distress Paint to the key. Once the paint has dried, rub Black Soot Distress Crayon along the edges of the key.

Once all the patterned papers have been layered all together, I then added the two scroll border pieces diagonally on the tag. Adhere the clock face and gear together. Once they've been adhered, add your sentiment to the middle of the gear. Adhere the barbed wire circle frame overtop of the saying.

To finish around the frame, adhere two stamps, a hot air balloon and the vintage scroll key. Adhere three small gears in the top left of the tag and two small gears in the bottom right of the tag.

To finish off the tag, add a burgundy bow at the top of the tag.

For You Tag with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. For today's post, I've created this For You Tag that's perfect to add to a gift bag or to give to someone special in your life.  You'll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my For You Tag at home.

To start, cut two pieces off of the Multi Gears Pattern. Apply Emboss It Ink to the two chipboard pieces. Sprinkle Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder over each chipboard piece. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with your heat tool. Set the chipboard pieces aside to cool.

Take the small Abstract Frame Set out of the package. Apply Emboss It Ink to the frame. Sprinkle Baked Texture - Deep Sea Embossing Powder over the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with your heat tool. Set the frame aside to cool.

From the Vintage Scroll Keys, take one out from the package. Apply two coats of Hickory Smoke Distress Paint to the key. Once the paint has dried, rub Black Soot, Brushed Pewter and Pumice Stone Distress Crayons overtop of the paint. 

Select two nuts from the Nuts & Bolts package. Apply two coats of Hickory Smoke Distress Paint to the nuts. Once the paint has dried, rub Black Soot, Brushed Pewter and Pumice Stone Distress Crayons overtop of the paint. 

Cut the Fine Clock Face in half. Rub Bronze Age Art Alchemy Metallique Wax overtop of each of the clock pieces. 

Take a Chipboard Tag out of the package. Place the chipboard tag onto the patterned paper piece and trace the tag. Cut the tag out. Ink the edges of the patterned paper tag using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Ink the edges of the chipboard tag using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the Card Sheet Travel For You patterned paper piece, cut out the "For You" card and fussy cut the pen out of one of the other squares. Ink the edges of the "For You" card and the pen using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Adhere the patterned paper tag to the chipboard tag. Punch a hole at the top of the tag.

In the top left hand corner of the tag, adhere one of the gear pattern pieces. In the bottom right hand corner, adhere the other gear pattern piece. Adhere the right hand side of the clock face in the middle  and slightly right so that it hangs off of the tag. Adhere the left hand side of the clock face in the middle and right up against the left hand side of the tag.

Adhere the For You card to the middle of the clock face. Adhere the abstract frame overtop of the For You card.

Adhere the key to the bottom left hand side of the frame. Adhere the pen to the middle right hand side of the frame. Adhere the two nuts to the top right hand corner of the frame. To finish your tag, tie some ribbon to the top of the tag.
