Family Scrapbook Layout with Laura Gilhuly

Good morning!
The gorgeous chipboard from Southern Ridge trading company and the fabulous kit from Scrapshotz go great together!

I started by layering the fabulous Pink Paislee papers and chose the wonderful colour scheme to carry on to the awesome Southern ridge chipboard!

I embossed the eye catching flourish in black then added some teal liquid pearls to accent the swoops!

It looks awesome against the grey and teal papers from Pink Pailsee

I added some flowers from my stash!

I embossed the family title in black too!

Celebrate You Scrapbook Layout with Charlene Byrd

Hello Bloggers!
Charlene here! Thanks for joining me today. Today I’m sharing with you the last project I will be doing for Southern Ridge Trading Company. It has been an honour and a privilege designing for Southern Ridge. One of my jobs is designing and prepping scrapbook page kits and therefore I always feel the need to ‘work’ on my scrapbook business which means I don’t ever take the time to design for myself, I mean never! For that reason, I have loved being a part of the SR design team as it forced me to create for myself. And I’m so happy that I’ve created some beautiful pages using Southern Ridges awesome chipboard pieces.

I chose my most favourite chipboard piece for this last layout. It’s simple yet classic and can be used on almost any page. I choose to cut it apart and tuck the pieces on each side of my layout.

Thank you so much for following me over the last 2 years. I have truly loved my time with Southern Ridge and thank them for allowing me to be a part of their team. Although I will not be designing for SR anymore you can still follow my work through my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/byrdsnestpaperie.

Not So Spooky Scrapbook Layout with Charlene Byrd

Hello Bloggers!

Charlene here! Thanks for joining me today! Happy Halloween!

Last year I spent Halloween with this little sweetie while I was visiting in Alberta. I experienced the best Halloween ever that night. The sidewalks were packed with kids and adults, all of the houses were were decorated so spooky, it felt like I was in a movie! I loved it so much that I’m doing it again this year!

To begin creating, I added some Texture Sand Paste to the Scary Word with a palette knife to make it very spooky looking!. Once it dried I painted it with Black Gesso.

I simply used Black Soot Distress Stain on the spider web.

Here is what I used to design this layout:

Enjoy the Journey Scrapbook Layout with Charlene Byrd

Hello bloggers!

Charlene here! Thanks for joining me today! I can't believe it's the middle of August already, summer has gone by so fast!

This picture was taken last year of my hubby and I. We were enjoying a beautiful boat ride along the St. Lawrence river into town where we stopped at a local pub for dinner and drinks. I just love where we live that we can do such spontaneous and fun things!

I started by staining my journey word with Walnut Distress stain. My bottle was almost empty so as I was swiping what ink I had left in the bottle I realized I was getting a really cool wood grain effect! Sometimes the unexpected are what looks the best!

For the scroll I added Glue n' Seal over the entire chipboard piece and added Distress Glitter over the top. I was so happy how the colour matched my layout and the little touch of glitter added a little shimmer!

Remember to always enjoy the journey of life!

More Cute than Spooky Scrapbook Layout with Charlene Byrd

Hello Everyone!

Who doesn’t love a good costume?!! I know I sure do! My nephew’s family is so adorable, I love them all! How adorably cute are these 3 little hunters who are getting ready to shoot some ducks! (It takes a confident man to put on tights! Haha!)
So let’s get started on how I created this ‘More Cute then Spooky’ page.

I simply stained the spider web with Black Soot Distress stain. I glued it where I wanted the spider web and cut off the excess. That allowed me to have a piece for the bottom corner.

To make the sign post I first wanted to distress the bottom to give it texture so that it looked a bit more weathered and worn. To do this I used an x-acto knife and made little cuts along the bottom of the chipboard. (Make sure to not cut all the way through).

From there I started playing. I knew I wanted it to look a bit like patina. I started by painting the entire piece with Antique White paint. Then I dry brushed some brown and blue paint. At this point it looked good but I just wasn’t completely pleased yet. So then I remembered I had some Perfect Pearls Powder. I added some VersaMark to the top and used a dry paint brush to randomly add 3 colours of Perfect Pearls. Now it was perfect!

I continued the look of the Perfect Pearls onto the gate. I started by staining the gate black. Then I added the VersaMark Ink and 3 colours of Perfect Pearls. The look was a little more subtle than the sign which is what I wanted.

The word Cute was first stained with Black Soot Distress Stain and then I added some Clear UTEE to make it pop.
