Explore Card with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. Travelling has become such a big part of our lives these days, that going away for a long trip, isn't as common as it used to be. In light of those special people in your lives that are going away on a long trip, why not create a card and give one to them to celebrate the fact. To inspire you, I've created this fun Explore card. You'll want to read below as I share with you how to embellish the chipboard pieces for my Explore Card at home.

From the Create, Explore, Relax set, cut out the Explore word. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the word.

Next, you'll need the Sm. World Globe.

From the Plain Banners, you'll need three banners. I traced the banners around two pieces of patterned paper. Cut the three banners out. Adhere the paper banners to the chipboard banners and punch holes through the top of the banners. Ink the edges of the banners using Walnut Stain Distress Oxide Ink and a blending tool with foam.

The last chipboard piece you'll need the large frame from the Abstract Frame Set. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Antique Linen Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the frame. Apply Emboss It Ink to the frame and sprinkle Tidal Lotus embossing powder over the entire surface of the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Cut three patterned paper pieces that measure 4 1/4" x 5 1/4", 4 1/2" x 5 1/2" and 4 3/4" x 5 3/4" to mount in behind of the frame. Once the frame is mounted over top of the image, adhere the banner through the top left hand hand corner of the frame. Adhere a large white rose and two coral roses above the banner.

Adhere the Explore word to the bottom portion of the frame. Adhere a coral and a mint rose to the left side of the E in the explore word. In the bottom right hand corner of the frame, adhere one large white rose, two coral roses, two mint roses and two small white roses.

Adhere the globe above the flowers. Add embellishments from the paper collection as desired. Adhere two coral roses and one mint rose above the globe.

Scatter Kindness Like Confetti Scrapbook Layout with Karla Yungwirth

Hello friends, it’s Karla back today with a pretty spring layout using the Foliage Pieces and Wild Flower Bouquet Chipboard and Loop Stencil from the Southern Ridge Trading Company Store. I decided to try customizing the chipboard pieces with some of the Ranger Pearl Alcohol Inks that are available. Since they are more opaque than the regular Alcohol Inks because of the pearl mixative, they worked really well to colour the chipboard, giving it a soft, shimmery effect! I tucked the Foliage Pieces in and around some Simple Stories diecut flowers and layered some stickers on creating clusters around my page.

The Alcohol Pearl Inks were easily applied to the chipboard pieces with a felt pad. I love the mottled look of the Pearl Inks on this beautiful Wild Flower Bouquet!

The Stencils in the SRTC Shop are beautifully detailed! I used a brush to add colour on the base of my layout with Distress Oxide Inks in colours that coordinated with the papers and embellishments.

Floral Happy Birthday Card with Katelyn Grosart

Hey there Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. Spring is here and inspiration is everywhere. With Spring in mind, I've created this vintage Floral Happy Birthday Card perfect for that special someone in your life.  You'll want to read below as I share with you how I created my Floral Happy Birthday Card.

To start, choose a Happy Birthday sentiments from the Birthday Greetings. Blend Vintage Photo Distress Ink over top of the Happy Birthday sentiment. Once the ink has dried, lightly rub Bronze Age Metallique Wax over top of the sentiment.

Take out one of the Delicate Lace Element chipboard from the package. Cut the element apart two create two pieces. Blend Vintage Photo Distress Ink over top of each piece. Once the ink has dried, lightly rub Bronze Age Metallique Wax over top of each piece.

With the Delicate Lace Element chipboard still out, take another piece from the package. Cut the element apart down the center creating two pieces. Apply two coats of Spun Sugar Distress Paint over top of each piece. Once the ink has dried, rub Walnut Stain Distress Crayon over the edges of each piece.

Place the Small Oval Frame overtop of a piece of patterned paper from Authentique's Stitches paper. Trace the inside of the frame onto the piece of patterned paper. Cut the patterned paper oval out. Ink the edges of the oval using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

With the Small Oval Frame still out, apply one coat of Art Alchemy Acrylic Metallique Paint in Vintage Rose. Once the paint has dried, apply a coat of Spun Sugar Distress Ink to the frame. After the second coat of paint has dried. Rub Walnut Stain and Vintage Photo Distress Crayon around the edges of the frame.

From the blue gingham patterned paper, cut a piece that measures 1 3/4" x 5 1/2". Tear along the bottom part of the patterned paper piece. Ink the edges of the patterned paper piece using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the Ruler patterned paper, cut a piece that measures 1" x 5 1/2". Ink the edges of the patterned paper piece using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the Plaid patterned paper, cut a piece that measures 3/4" x 5 1/2". Ink the edges of the patterned paper piece using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

From the blue gingham patterned paper, cut a piece that measures 6" x 6". From the backside of the blue gingham patterned paper, cut a piece that measures 5 1/2" x 5 1/2". Ink the edges of the patterned paper pieces using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Adhere the floral patterned paper to the blue gingham patterned paper.

Adhere one of the delicate lace element halves 3/4" from the left of the blue gingham patterned paper. Adhere the other half of the delicate lace element 3" from the right of the blue gingham patterned paper.

Adhere the plaid patterned paper to the middle of the ruler patterned paper. Adhere the ruler patterned paper to the middle of the blue gingham patterned paper piece. Adhere the blue gingham patterned piece overtop of the delicate lace element.

Adhere the one delicate lace element piece 1/8" from the top of the plaid patterned paper strip. Adhere the other delicate lace element 3/8" from the bottom of the plaid patterned paper strip.

Adhere the oval patterned paper piece to the middle of the single delicate lace elements. Adhere the small oval frame overtop of the oval patterned paper piece.

Adhere the Happy Birthday sentiment to the center of the small oval frame.

On the top right side of the small oval frame, adhere one large white carnations, two light pink roses, two dark pink roses, four red roses and two cream roses.

On the bottom right hand side of the small oval frame adhere one white carnation, four light pink roses, four dark pink roses, two red roses and four cream roses.

To finish the card, adhere the cardfront on a cardbase that measures 6" x 12", score at 6".
