Gorgeous Scrapbook Layout with Deonna Riegler

Good morning Crafty Friends,
This post is bright and cheery; I love the colours on the page and used something new for me.

I used the frame piece and the word Gorgeous from Southern Ridge Trading Company, painted them first with a shimmery paint and covered entirely and let them dry.  I the broke out a new small watercolour set and used the yellow, green and purples from the paper I was going to use. Painted to my liking and heat set with clear embossing powder then topped it off with a shimmer from perfect pearls!  I took an additional title to complete my page and coloured it the same way.

Cut and matted my photo’s and papers, added a cluster of flowers and a yellow crochet dollies pop dotted it up to add dimension and put it all together.

The results I think show a happy evening with my Love!

Joy Christmas Card with Karen Jiles

Karen here, sharing a “Joy” Christmas Card using Southern Ridge Trading’s Words of Christmas and Small Merry Deer Mix chipboard sets. I loved coordinating the chipboard with this selection of papers and velvet ribbon. The chipboard pieces were perfect choices for this card and easy to pair with the collection of embellishments used. All elements gave this card a wonderful vintage effect. The “Joy” card measures 5 ¼ x 10 and can serve as a nice keepsake. Take a peek at my tutorial below:

Step 1: Using scissors, cut word of choice from the Words of Christmas Chipboard Set and set aside.

Step 2: Trim patterned paper down to layering sizes and sand edges with sanding bar.

Step 3: Begin layering patterned papers together.

Step 4: Add velvet and focal layer to card.

Step 5: Apply mousse to chipboard word and deer, and adhere them to card.

Step 6: Add velvet bow to the card.

Step 7: Tap on gesso to enhance the overall design.

Step 8: Continue embellishing as desired.

Joy Christmas Wall Hanging with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. It's hard to believe that Christmas is only 20 days away and it's time for me to start decorating my house for Christmas. For today's post, I've created this Joy Christmas Wall Hanging perfect to add to my Christmas decor, which features a variety of our popular wood and chipboard Christmas pieces. You'll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my wall hanging at home.

To start, you'll need the Ornate Rectangle Frame. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the frame. Sprinkle Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder over the entire surface of the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Next, you'll need four of the Snowflakes 714. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to all four snowflakes. Sprinkle Glacier White Embossing Powder over the entire surface of all four snowflakes. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

Choose a Christmas sentiment from any of our Christmas sayings. Apply two coats of Fired Brick Distress Spray Stain over the word. Once dry, apply a coat of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain overtop of the word.

Next, you'll need the Pine Branch. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Forest Moss Distress Ink over the entire surface of the pine branch.

The next chipboard piece you need is the Primitive Star. Using a blending tool with foam, blend Ground Espresso Distress Ink over the entire surface of the star.

From the Ribbon Bows, you'll need to choose one of them. Apply two coats of Candied Apple Distress Stain to the bow. Ink the edges of the bow using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

The last chipboard element you'll need is one of the extra pages from the Plain Chipboard Album. Ink the edges of the album using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

The next two steps are using Pion's Let's Be Jolly paper. From the Christmas Memories paper, cut the child image out to 2" x 3 3/8". Distress the edges. Ink the edges of the image using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Choose three of the patterned papers from the Let's Be Jolly Paper. Cut patterned paper one down to 3 7/8" x 7 3/4". Cut patterned paper two down to 3 5/8" x 7 1/2". Cut patterned paper three down to 3 3/8" x 7 1/4". Distress the edges of all of the papers. Ink the edges of all of the papers using Ground Espresso Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Adhere the 3 3/8" patterned paper to the 3 5/8" patterned paper. Adhere the 3 5/8" patterned paper to the 3 7/8" patterned paper. Adhere the 3 7/8" patterned paper to the chipboard album page.

Adhere the star to the middle of the 3 3/8" patterned paper. Adhere the frame to the image. Adhere one of the snowflakes to the backside of the top left corner of the frame. Adhere a second snowflake to the backside of the bottom right corner of the frame. Foam square the frame to the middle of the star.

Adhere the third snowflake to the top left corner of the frame. Make sure that you can see a bit of the bottom snowflake. Adhere the fourth snowflake to the bottom right corner of the frame. Make sure that you can see a bit of the bottom snowflake. Foam square the ribbon to the top of the frame.

Adhere the pine branch on the bottom right side of the frame. Adhere the sentiment to the bottom of the frame.

In the bottom right hand corner of the frame, adhere three white roses, three red roses, one brown roses and three greenery pieces.

In the bottom left hand corner of the frame, adhere one red rose and two white roses.

In the top left hand corner of the frame, adhere five white roses, three red roses, one brown rose and three greenery pieces.

To finish off your wall hanging, punch two holes at the top. Thread brown ribbon through the holes to create hanging part of the wall hanging.

Here are a few closeup photos of the finished wall hanging.

And here's the finished Joy Christmas Wall Hanging.

First Snow Day Scrapbook Layout with Karla Yungwirth

Hello friends! Karla back today with a frosty layout using the gorgeous Large Snowflake Wreath from Southern Ridge Trading Company, a snowflake from the Snowflakes 712 pack, some Mini Wood Sleighs and my favourite Soda Fizz Stencil to document our first snowfall this year in Calgary, Alberta!

I customized the Snowflake Wreath by painting it first with some beautiful, creamy Paper Artsy Paints by Seth Apter and then added Ranger Matte Medium to each part that I wanted to emboss with Emerald Creek Embossing Powders. After I added the embossing to the snowflakes and swirls with Winters Mistake, Mermaid Fin and Kiss Of The Fairy Embossing Powders I then embossed the whole frame with Fractured Ice Powder. I printed my photo as a 3x4 and it framed it beautifully.

I used one of the kits from Scrap Shotz Kit Club from last year that featured the Carta Bella Cabin Fever Collection and I painted the tiny Mini Wood Sleighs to match the colours with the Paper Artsy Paints. They are so adorable!!

I embossed the pretty snowflake from the Snowflakes 712 pack with Emerald Creek Mermaid Fin powder and used some Shimmerz clear sparkly texture paste over the Soda Fizz Stencil to give a snowy effect at the top and bottom of the page.

I just love how I’m able to easily and beautifully customize the SRTC embellishments to match my projects! There is such a wide assortment of Chipboard and Wood Veneer available in the shop that you’ll be sure to find just the right one for your own project! Thanks so much for stopping by, and have a wonderful week ahead!

Christmas Wall Plaque with Monica Edwards

Hi everyone! It's almost Christmas time woo hoo... so I am sharing a wall plaque.

I made by using one of the pages from the Dingbat mini album and covering it with Graphic 45 patterned paper.

I then took the Chain Frames covered it with gold embossing powder to match the colours in the paper and used to my frame my photo.

I added some flowers and burlap ribbon to hang it up with.  Makes a perfect gift idea or a fun home decor piece for the holidays.
