Christmas Wall Plaque with Monica Edwards

Hi everyone! It's almost Christmas time woo hoo... so I am sharing a wall plaque.

I made by using one of the pages from the Dingbat mini album and covering it with Graphic 45 patterned paper.

I then took the Chain Frames covered it with gold embossing powder to match the colours in the paper and used to my frame my photo.

I added some flowers and burlap ribbon to hang it up with.  Makes a perfect gift idea or a fun home decor piece for the holidays.

Get Muddy Buddy Scrapbook Layout with Charlene Byrd

Hello Bloggers!

Charlene here! Thank for joining me today! How ironic is this layout, here at home we are in the midst of a rainfall warning! Could be up to 100mm's of rain! This is creating the perfect conditions for mudding!

My boys loved riding their 4 wheelers when they were young and especially when it was muddy! If only their mother enjoyed cleaning up the mud lol! Boys will be boys!

To start the the chain frame I stained the chipboard with Walnut Distress Stain.

Then I randomly dabbed metallic Distress Paint onto the chipboard until I created the desired look. Super easy!

I simply used Walnut Stain on the title, twig and round tag. To make the 'Got Mud' stand out a bit more I used a fine tip brown sharpie marker and traced over the letters.

Masculine Happy Birthday Card with Katelyn Grosart

Hey there Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. It was my Step Dad's birthday a week ago and he loves photography. So with his birthday in mind, I set out to create him a masculine photography inspired Happy Birthday Card. This card is chalked full of chipboard pieces as well as different embellishments and it can be made for any special person in your life. Grab a cup of your favourite beverage and read below as I share with you how I created my masculine Happy Birthday Card.

To start, cut a piece of patterned paper that measures 5 1/2" x 5 1/2".  Once the piece of paper has been cut, place the Brick Stencil over top of the paper. Using a palette knife, apply Black Texture Paste through the top left and bottom right of the stencil randomly. Set the piece of paper aside to dry while you work on the other elements for your card.

Cut two Honeycomb Pattern pieces that measure 2" x 3". Apply Emboss It Ink to the Honeycomb pieces. Sprinkle Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder over each Honeycomb piece. Emboss the Honeycomb pieces with your heat tool.

With the Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder still out, choose two hinges from the Nuts & Bolts and cut the hinges in half. Apply Emboss It Ink to the hinges. Sprinkle Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder over the hinges. Emboss the hinges with your heat tool.

Using the small Abstract Circle Frame, apply Emboss It Ink to the small abstract circle frame. Sprinkle Charred Gold Embossing Powder over the circle frame. Emboss the circle frame with your heat tool.

Using the small Chain Frame, apply Emboss It Ink to the small chain frame. Sprinkle Hammered Metal Embossing Powder over the chain frame. Emboss the chain frame with your heat tool.

With the Hammered Metal Embossing Powder still out, choose one med. key hole and apply Emboss It Ink to the key hole. Sprinkle Hammered Metal Embossing Powder over the key hole. Emboss the key hole with your heat tool.

Choose a Happy Birthday sentiment from the Birthday Greetings. Cut your chosen Happy Birthday sentiment out. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Happy Birthday Sentiment. Sprinkle Midnight Black Embossing Powder over the entire Happy Birthday sentiment. Emboss the Happy Birthday sentiment with your heat tool.

Take two Delicate Lace Bars out of the package. On both pieces, cut the long skinny bar off. Apply two coats of Vintage Photo Distress Stain to the Delicate Lace Bars.

Take one Drifting Feather out of the package. Apply two coats of Walnut Stain Distress Paint to the feather. Let the feather dry. After the paint has dried on the feather, apply Walnut Stain Distress Crayon to the feather. Rub the distress crayon into the edges of the feather.

Choose eight bolts from the Nuts & Bolts package. Apply two coats of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain to each bolt. Let the blots dry. After the bolts have dried, start by applying Pumice Stone Distress Crayon to each bolt. Rub the crayon in. Apply Hickory Smoke Distress Crayon to each bolt. Rub the crayon in. The last Distress Crayon you'll need to apply to the bolts is Black Soot. Rub the crayon in.

Pick three keys. Using the Black Soot Distress Crayon, apply the crayon to each key. Rub the crayon into each key to give them a more of a worn look.

Using the Black Soot Distress Crayon, apply the crayon to the pocket watch. Rub the crayon into each pocket watch to give it a worn look.

From Pion Design "Mister Tom's Treasure" fussy cut a pocket watch, two cars and two license plates. Ink the edges of the images using a Blending Tool and Black Soot Distress Ink.

Cut one film strip piece that has 6 squares on it. Cut a second film strip piece that has 2 1/2 squares on it.

Cut a 3 1/4" stitched circle out of black cardstock. Using the 2 3/4" stitched circle, cut out the photography image found on the Mister Tom's Treasures Images. Distress the edges of the stitched circles using an edge distressor. Ink the edges of the circles using a Blending Tool and Black Soot Distress Ink.

Distress the edges of the 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" patterned paper using an edge distressor. Ink the edges of the paper using a Blending Tool and Black Soot Distress Ink.

Cut a 5 5/8" x 5 5/8" piece of woodgrain patterned paper. Distress the edges of the 5 5/8" x 5 5/8" patterned paper using an edge distressor. Ink the edges of the paper using a Blending Tool and Black Soot Distress Ink.

Cut a 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" piece of black cardstock. Distress the edges of the 5 3/4" x 5 3/4" black cardstock using an edge distressor. Ink the edges of the paper using a Blending Tool and Black Soot Distress Ink.

Cut a 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" piece of patterned paper. Distress the edges of the 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" patterned paper using an edge distressor. Ink the edges of the paper using a Blending Tool and Black Soot Distress Ink.

Cut a 6" x 12" piece of White Super Stock Cardstock. Score the cardstock at 6". Fold card base in half.

Now it's time to assemble your card.

Adhere the black cardstock piece to the 5 7/8" x 5 7/8" patterned paper piece.

Adhere the woodgrain patterned paper to the black cardstock.

Adhere the brick patterned paper piece to the woodgrain patterned paper.

Adhere the photography image circle to the black cardstock circle.

Adhere one of the delicate lace bar piece to the top of the photography/black circle. Adhere the other delicate lace bar piece to the bottom of the photography/black circle.

In the top left hand side of the photography circle, adhere one of the fussy cut cars and one of the license plates, the film strip with 2 1/2 squares, pocket watch, keyhole, the two hinges and a metal key.
In the bottom right hand side of the photography circle, adhere the other fussy cut card, license plate, pocket watch, film strip piece, three bolts and two keys.

Adhere the abstract frame overtop of the photography circle. Adhere the chain frame overtop of the abstract frame. On the top left hand side of the chain frame, adhere five bolts. In the bottom right hand corner adhere the feather overtop of the chain frame. Adhere the Happy Birthday sentiment to the bottom portion of the chain frame.

Shabby Chic Mini Album with Charlene Byrd

Hello Blogger friends,

Charlene here!

So in my mind I had great plans to create a wonderful new layout to share with you today but of course life doesn’t always happen the way it’s suppose to! We’ve been building an addition onto our house that was suppose to take about 8 weeks - we’re now at 5 months! And the basement of this addition goes from my old scrapbook studio to what’s going to be my new scrapbook studio. My existing studio has been under drop cloths for about a month now so designing has been challenging to say the least. Every time I want to work I have to uncover my desk...not that bad but a bit of a pain.

Anyway, when Karen told her design team that our chipboard packages would be arriving last week somehow I just knew that everything was going to happen all at the same time. I took on extra hours at my paying job so I worked a full week until Saturday afternoon and our contractor finally finished the drywall mudding on Friday so that meant that I could finally clean up all the dust that has accumulated in my entire house and start painting my new scrapbook studio. Yay! As I was painting early yesterday morning I realized that my design blog post needed to be published on Monday. YIKES!

So today I’m sharing with you a mini album that I put together and shared at the Creativation Show. You may have seen some of the pages that I had created previously but I designed the cover and bound the pages to show off the completed album at the show. I love the colours, the grundgy’ness and especially all the Southern Ridge chipboard that I used!
