Happy Holidays Wall Hanging with Katelyn Grosart

Hey there Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. Fall feels like it has officially arrived here on the west coast of Canada. With the cool weather, I have definitely been in the mood to start creating Christmas projects. So today, I've created for you a beautiful Happy Holidays Wall Hanging, that's perfect to hang on your Christmas tree or give it as a gift to someone this holiday season. You'll want to read below as I share with you how I embellished the chipboard elements on my Happy Holidays Wall Hanging.

To start, pull out one Wood Small Marked Reindeer and one Sm. Wood Sleigh. Apply a coat of Candied Apple Distress Stain to the Sleigh. Once the stain has dried, apply a layer of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain overtop of the sleigh. Apply a coat of Ground Espresso Distress Stain to the Reindeer. After the stain has dried, apply a layer of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain overtop of the reindeer.

Take five snowflakes out of the Snowflakes 712 package. Apply two coats of Titanium White Paint on each snowflake. Once the paint has dried, apply a coat of Raw Umber Antiquing Cream to each snowflake. After the cream looks like it has dried, rub off excess cream. 

Next, you'll need one Lg. Wood Snowflake. Apply two coats of Titanium White Paint to the snowflake. Once the paint has dried, apply a coat of Raw Umber Antiquing Cream to the snowflake. After the cream looks like it has dried, rub off excess cream. 

Take the small Scribble Triangle Tree out of the package. Blend Fired Brick Distress Oxide Ink over the entire surface of the Christmas tree. With the ink dry, lightly rub White Gold Art Alchemy Metallique Wax over the edges and the middle of the tree. 

Pull the Happy Holidays Sentiment from the Wood Words of Christmas - Joy package. Apply a coat of Tarnished Brass Distress Stain to each word.

The last chipboard piece you need is the Star Wreath. Apply Emboss It Ink to the star wreath. With the ink on the wreath, sprinkle Charred Gold Embossing Powder over the entire star wreath. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with your heat tool. Let the wreath cool.  

To assemble the wall hanging, adhere an image to the middle of the wreath. In the top left hand corner, adhere two small snowflakes, the large snowflake the "Happy" word. To finish off the corner, adhere two cream roses and two brown roses.

In the bottom right hand corner, adhere the Christmas Tree, the sleigh, three snowflakes and the reindeer. To embellish the rest of the corner, adhere three cream roses and six brown roses.

To the left of the embellishments in the bottom right hand corner, adhere the "Holidays" word.

To finish your wall hanging, add a piece of ribbon to the top of the star wreath.

Walking In A Winter Wonderland Scrapbook Layout with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here and I'm on the blog today to share with you some inspiration using our current monthly challenge which is all about "Winter". Today I've created a Winter Scrapbook Layout for you that will be sure to inspire you to recreate it at home. Read below and learn how I transformed my chipboard pieces to create my Winter Scrapbook Layout.

To start, you'll need the large nested square frame. Apply a coat of Ranger Ink: Emboss It Dabber to the entire piece. Once the ink has been applied, sprinkle Soft Fallen Snow embossing powder over the entire surface. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Set the frame aside to allow the powder to cool. If there isn't enough embossing powder on the frame, reapply the Emboss It Ink to the frame and sprinkle Soft Fallen Snow embossing powder over the entire surface. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Set the piece aside to cool.

Next you'll need two Lg. Wood Snowflakes. Apply Ranger Ink - Emboss It ink to both snowflakes. Once the ink has been applied, sprinkle Soft Fallen Snow embossing powder over each snowflake. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.  Set the snowflakes aside to allow the powder to cool. If there isn't enough embossing powder on the snowflakes, reapply the Emboss It Ink to each snowflake and sprinkle Soft Fallen Snow embossing powder over the entire surface. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Set the piece aside to cool.

You'll need to take five Snowflakes 712 out of the package. Make sure three match of the five and two match of the five. Apply Ranger Ink - Emboss It ink to both snowflakes. Once the ink has been applied, sprinkle Ultra Puff White embossing powder over each snowflake. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.  Set the snowflakes aside to allow the powder to cool. If there isn't enough embossing powder on the snowflakes, reapply the Emboss It Ink to each snowflake and sprinkle Ultra Puff White embossing powder over the entire surface. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Set the piece aside to cool.

Next, you'll need one Wood Small Marked Reindeer. Apply two coats of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain to the reindeer. Set aside the reindeer to dry.

Take one Sm. Wood Sleigh out of the package. Apply two coats of Chipped Sapphire Distress Stain to the sleigh. Set aside the sleigh to dry.

Next, you'll need two Mini Wood Stars.  Apply two coats of Chipped Sapphire Distress Stain to the stars. Set aside the stars to dry.

The last piece that you'll need is one of the Scroll Borders. Using a blending tool and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink, cover the entire surface of the scroll. Once the surface is covered, use a second blending tool and ink the edges with Black Soot Distress Ink.

When adhering the chipboard elements to the layout, make sure to adhere the picture first and then adhere the scroll border. Once the scroll border is adhered, foam square the square frame over top of the picture.

With the frame adhered in the middle, now it's time to add the chipboard elements in the bottom right hand corner. You'll need to adhere two of the three smaller matching snowflakes on the left and right corner of the frame. Once they've been adhered, adhere the sleigh between them and adhere the large snowflake over top of the sleigh. To finish the corner add the two stars and last matching snowflake to the corner. To embellish the small snowflakes, add Red/Gold Glitter dots to the centres and a large jewel to the centre of the large snowflake.

In the bottom left hand corner adhere the reindeer.

In the top left hand corner, adhere the large snowflake in the top left corner of the frame. Once the large snowflake has been adhered, adhere one of the small matching snowflakes to the right of the large snowflake and adhere the second small matching to the left of the large snowflake. To finish the corner add the two stars and last matching snowflake to the corner. To embellish the small snowflakes, add Red/Gold Glitter dots to the centres and a large jewel to the centre of the large snowflake.

To finish your layout, take watered down white gesso and a splatter brush. Splatter sections of your layout as desired.

Wishing You an Abundance of Christmas Miracles Card with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here and I'm back on the blog today to share with you some more inspiration using our current monthly challenge which is all about "Christmas & New Years". To start, I want to wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Today I've got for you a Christmas card that will be sure to inspire you to recreate it at home. Read below and learn how I transformed my chipboard pieces to create my Christmas card. 

To start, pull out the Flourish Die Cut. Apply a coat of Ranger Ink: Emboss It Dabber - Clear onto the entire piece. Once the ink has been applied, sprinkle Charred Gold embossing powder over the entire surface. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Set the piece aside to allow the powder to cool. 

Next, take out four Mini Wood Snowflakes. Cover each snowflake in a layer of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain. Once the stain has dried, cover the snowflakes using Ranger Ink - Emboss it dabber in clear and sprinkle Iridescent Shimmer Embossing Powder overtop of each snowflake. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Set the snowflakes aside to cool. 

Pull out two Lg. Wood Snowflakes from the package. Apply two coats of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain to each snowflake. Once the snowflakes have dried, lightly apply some of Deco Art's Metallic Lustre in Iced Espresso over top of each snowflake.

Take one sleigh out of the Sm Wood Sleighs package. Apply two coats of Vintage Photo Distress Stain to the sleigh. Once the sleigh has dried, lightly apply some of Deco Art's Metallic Lustre in Iced Espresso over top of the sleigh.

The last piece of chipboard you'll need is one Wood Small Marked Reindeer. Apply two coats of Vintage Photo Distress Stain to the reindeer. Once the reindeer has dried, lightly apply some of Deco Art's Metallic Lustre in Iced Espresso over top of the reindeer.

Apply Jet Black Archival Ink to the "Wishing You an Abundance of Christmas Miracles" stamp (designed by Karen and will be available in the store soon) and stamp onto a piece of white 100lb cardstock. Once stamped, blend Antique Linen Distress Ink over the entire image. After the ink has been applied, using scissors, cut the oval out. Edge distress the edges of the oval. Ink the edges of the oval using a blending tool and Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Before assembling the card, you'll need to cut a patterned paper piece that measures 4 1/8" x 5 3/8". Cut a second piece of patterned paper that measures 4" x 5 1/4". Edge distress all the edges of the patterned papers. Ink the edges of the patterned papers using a blending tool and Walnut Stain Distress Ink. 

Adhere the 4" x 5 1/4" patterned paper to the 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" patterned paper.

Adhere one of the large snowflakes in the top left hand corner and adhere the second large snowflake in the bottom right hand corner.

Adhere the "Wishing you an Abundance of Christmas Miracles" sentiment to the embossed flourish die cut.

Place two foam squares in the middle back of the flourish die. Apply adhesive to the top left and bottom right corners of the flourish die cut. Adhere the flourish die cut in the middle of the card, having the top left and bottom right corners sitting slightly on the large snowflakes.

Wrap a piece of cream ribbon around the bottom of the card and tie a bow on the right hand side of the card.

Adhere the reindeer on the bottom left hand side of the sentiment. Adhere the sleigh on an angle in the bottom right hand corner of the sentiment, having it sitting right beside the bow.

Adhere two of the mini wood snowflakes in the top left hand corner, slightly sitting on the sentiment. Adhere the other two mini wood snowflakes in the bottom right hand corner as desired on the sleigh.

To finish the top left hand corner, adhere two dark red roses and one brown rose slightly overtop of the mini wood snowflakes.

To finish the bottom right hand corner, adhere four dark red roses and three brown roses as desired.

Cut a card base from Licorice Double Dot paper that measures 5 1/2" x 11, score at 4 1/4". Adhere the card front to the cardbase.

Here is the Wishing You an Abundance of Christmas Miracles card finished with all the elements put together.

Snowman Merry Christmas Card with Katelyn Grosart

Hey there Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here and I'm on the blog today to share  some inspiration with you from our current monthly challenge which is all about "Christmas & New Years". Today I've got a Snowman Merry Christmas card for you that will be sure to inspire you to recreate it. Grab a cup of coffee or tea and learn how I transformed my chipboard pieces and assembled my card to create my fun Christmas card. 

To start, take out six Mini Wood Snowflakes. Cover each snowflake in two layers of Picket Fence Distress Stain. Once the stain has dried, cover the snowflakes in a layer of VersaMark Ink and sprinkle Iridescent Shimmer Embossing Powder overtop of each of the snowflakes. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Set the snowflakes aside to cool. Once the embossing powder has cooled down, add a red glitter/gold glitter dot to the centres of each snowflake.

Next, you'll need the Ornate Square Frame #2. Apply two coats of Picket Fence Distress Stain to the frame. Once the distress stain has dried, cover the snowflakes in a layer of VersaMark Ink and sprinkle Soft Fallen Snow Embossing Powder overtop of the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. 

Pull out six Snowflakes 712 out of the package. Apply two coats of Picket Fence Distress Stain on each snowflake. Set aside the snowflakes to dry.

Take out one sleigh from the Sm. Wood Sleighs package. Apply two coats of Walnut Stain Distress Stain to the sleigh. Set the sleigh aside to dry.

Pull out four Sm. Primitive Stars out of the package. Apply two coats of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain on each star. Set aside the stars to dry. 

Next, you'll need to pull one Merry Christmas banner and four stars from the Mini Wood Stars. Blend Barn Door Distress Ink onto the Merry Christmas banner. Blend Fossilized Amber Distress Ink to the four wood stars. Once the banner and stars have been inked, use a blending tool ink the edges of the banner and stars using Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Take three mittens out of the package. Apply two coats of Candied Apple Distress Paint. Once the mittens have dried, use a blending tool and ink the edges of the mittens using Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Next, you'll need to get out your paper trimmer. Trim the snowman image down to 2 7/8" x 2 7/8", trim the large snowflake patterned paper to 5 1/4" x 5 1/4",  trim the small snowflake patterned paper to 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" and trim the plaid patterned paper to 5 3/4" x 5 3/4".  Edge distress all the edges of the patterned paper and then ink the edges of the patterned paper and image using a blend tool and Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Adhere the small snowflake patterned paper to the plaid patterned paper. Adhere the large snowflake patterned paper to the small snowflake patterned paper.

Adhere the snowman image to the middle of the large snowflake patterned paper. Once the snowman image has been adhered, adhere the ornate frame overtop of the snowman image.

Adhere three white stained snowflakes in the bottom left hand corner of the frame. Adhere the other three white stained snowflakes in the top right hand corner of the frame.

Adhere two of the brushed pewter stars in the bottom left hand corner of the frame overtop of the snowflakes. Once the stars have been adhered in the bottom right hand corner, adhere two of the wood stars in the bottom left hand corner. Adhere the other two brushed pewter stars in the top right hand corner of the frame overtop of the snowflakes. Once the stars have been adhered in the top right hand corner, adhere the other two wood stars in the top right hand corner. 

Before adhering the sleigh in the bottom left hand corner, add a piece of twine to the sleigh. In the bottom left hand corner, adhere the banner, sleigh a mitten and a snowflake. In the top right hand corner, adhere the two mittens and three snowflakes.

In the bottom left hand corner, adhere six red roses, four black roses and three dark brown roses as desired. In the top right hand corner, adhere seven red roses, five black roses and three dark drown roses as desired. Once the roses have been adhered, adhere the card front to 6" card base.

Here is the snowman Merry Christmas finished.
