Hi everyone! Happy belated Birthday to a dear friend of mine that I made this gift box for using Southern Ridge Trading chipboard pieces. 

I first applied some gesso the center Foilage Oval Frame and for the sentiment I used the Happy Birthday along with some Imagine Irresistible this stuff is amazing btw!

 Next I made some foamiran flowers to align along the outer part of the frame to bring everything together...

Hi everyone! Welcome back to a Southern Ridge Trading creation using Leafy Branches and Swooping Birds.  To make this card of thanks for a friend.

I painted the chipboard pieces with gesso first and then added another coat of white paint.  For the bird piece I glued it to a piece of white cardstock so you could see the image clearly.

Charming - Vintage Car Canvas with Erin Quiding-Sampson

Hi I’m back on the blog today to share a little canvas with you. This vintage car canvas would be a great gift for fathers day.

To start, I coated my Chipboard pieces and a flat 5 by 7 canvas with Gesso.

While those were drying, I got my acrylic paint ready to pour onto my canvas. I wanted to make a marbled background, so I used DecoArt Black, white, silver morning and spun gold Acrylic paints. I added a little bit of pouring medium to the black and white paints to help them flow better. I poured my paint onto the canvas in puddles, layering them on top of one another.

When I thought I had enough paint to cover, I grabbed something large enough to hold the canvas to catch all the paint drippings.

Angle the canvas back and forth until you get it all covered. This needs to dry for at least overnight. Mine is still not dry as I type this, but I live in a VERY WET climate.

Next, I painted my chipboard. I used my finger to rub black and silver paint across the top of the vintage car. I wanted to highlight all the grooves of the grill and head lights and I find this works very well. I painted the Chipboard word using Silver and the decorative pieces black. After these were dried, I used Matte gel medium to adhere the chipboard down onto the canvas. Once I get it completely dried I will place it into a small picture frame for hanging.

Spring Dragonfly Frame with Erin Quiding-Sampson

Hello, I’m back to share this pretty Dragonfly décor piece with you. I started off by putting a thin coat of gel medium onto the front and back pieces of the frame. I then added some decorative tissue paper to that. I set them aside and allow to dry.

After the tissue is dried rip away any excess, then use a sanding block or nail file to smooth out the sides.

I added metallic paint in copper, peridot green and white to add some interest to the frame.

I cut apart and coloured the leafy branches and added a thin coat of white acrylic to the dragonfly.

When the dragonfly was dried I painted the wings in a muted purple and blue. I also coloured the body in the peridot green.

I put a coat of Mother of pearl structure gel over everything. I thought this might give the whole piece the iridescent of a dragonfly wing.

Now it's time to assemble. I used gel medium to adhere the whole project together. Glue together the front and back pieces of the frame.

I then added the leafy branches starting from the largest to smallest.

I did the same with the flowers. I opened the flowers toward the bottom and squished together the ones closest to the top. I wanted to make them look “bud” like.

I added pop dots to the back of the dragonfly and gently curved the wings to make it stand off the frame.

Set of 3 ATC's with Erin Quiding-Sampson

         

To start, I cut my Art Trading Cards (3.5” by 2.5”) out of 110lb card stock, then did a thin coat of gesso over the top.

Next, I cut scrap papers to use on the background and applied them using matte gel medium.

I used a bit of black paint and distress oxides (listed below) on my background.

I then did a white wash on both the lightbulb and the fly chipboard pieces.

I used a bright yellow embossing powder on the lightbulbs and used a pigment powder to colour the flies with.

I used a white gel pen to make markings on the tail end of the flies.

All the pieces were adhered down with gel medium, then I added white and teal paint splatters all over.

I also used a bit of the teal pigment around the edges to tie it all together.

Christmas Photo Display with Erin Quiding-Sampson

Hi everyone, today I’m sharing a Christmas photo display. It can be hung on the wall or leaned on a shelf to show some of your favourite photos.

 

(I always like to lay everything out before I start to get an idea of the layout)

I started with the 9-hole square tray, I coloured both the background and frame using a combination of different coloured sprays and daubers. I keep the darker shades to the outer edges and light, towards the center of the tray. I wanted it to look like a winter night sky.

While the tray was drying, I gave a coat of white gesso to all the snowflakes and the Christmas scroll.  When those were dry, I did a very light spray of turquoise blue and allowed that to dry too.

After I looked at it I felt like it needed some more contrast, so I added splotches of metallic silver to the background.

When I was happy with the colours and placement, I used Matte Gel Medium to adhere everything into place.

My only task now, is to figure out which photos to display…

Winter Sign with Erin Quiding-Sampson

Today I've created a wintery sign using some pretty chipboard pieces that I layered over a wooden sign.

First, I used a distress dauber in peeled paint on the sign, then added 2 coats of picket fence distress paint to give it a very light green colour. I then coloured the corner pieces and the tree with Picket Fence Distress Paint. I let all the pieces dry and then glued them down using Matte Gel Medium. I finished it off by hot gluing a silver ribbon to the back of the sign.

This was super simple but I love the way it turned out!
