My Brother Scrapbook Layout with Charlene Byrd

Hello bloggers!

Charlene here. Thanks for joining me today. The layout I'm sharing with you today is a very special layout, one that was really hard for me to create but one that I felt my heart needed to create. As scrapbookers we scrapbook life, the special moments, the memories we want to remember, things that are close to our hearts. I want to remember my brother....forever!

Sadly he was suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us a couple months ago at the young age of 49. A mother shouldn't lose her son, a wife shouldn't lose her husband only 18 days after saying 'I Do' and I shouldn't have to say goodbye to my oldest brother at this early age. Life is just so unfair sometimes.

I am so thankful that I love this hobby that we share, that we can create beautiful pages to celebrate life. My brother will always be remembered by everyone who loved him, I will remember him forever and miss him everyday!

I painted the chipboard pieces with copper acrylic paint. I then gently sanded the edges to reveal a bit of the chipboard and added Walnut Distress ink to the edges.

This past year I have lost my step dad and my brother. It has taught me that life is short, too short. Be sure to tell your loved ones that you love them, take the time to be with friends and family. Do what makes you happy, and scrapbook those memories, for one day they may be gone. And to all of you reading this, thank for for following me. I hope that I inspire you to create beautiful pages too!

Remember Always Mini Album with Charlene Byrd

Hello Bloggers!
Charlene here! Thanks for joining me. Today I am sharing with you a mini album that was created with love and a whole lot of tears! My older brother, at the age of only 49, was tragically killed in a car accident last week. It breaks my heart that he is gone and I will never understand why life can be so unfair, but what is worse is that he was married to the most amazing woman for 18 shorts days. For the first time in his life he was truly happy and loved unconditionally. I created this album for his wife so she can treasure and remember all the good times they had together.

Until next time,

2 Hearts 1 Love with Charlene Byrd

Hello blogger friends!
Charlene here!

With Valentine’s right around the corner I thought instead of creating a layout I would create something that could be used as a gift. Today I am excited to share with you a beautiful decorative wall piece that could sit in a photo easel (like I’ve done), hang on the wall or it could easily be put into a 12 x 12 frame. This was designed with Southern Ridge’s 9 Hole Circle Tray. It’s 12 x 12, made out of wood so it’s super sturdy and comes with the top piece that has 9 holes cut into it and a full background piece to place on the back when you’re finished designing (so it covers up the back).

I simply painted the frame with Black Acrylic paint and sanded the edges. Then I started playing with the 9 holes. I chose to showcase 2 of my favourite photos of my hubby and I and then create in the other 7 spots.

The Filagree Bar created the anchor for the project. I started by picking out a moss coloured Glimmer Mist. Unfortunately the pump was plugged up so instead of fiddling with it I grabbed a paint brush and dipped it in the bottle. Because I had already shaken it all I got was gold glimmer, not quite the look I was going for! So I waited for the glimmer to settle to the bottom and then I re-painted just the green colour over the gold. Then once it was dry I randomly dabbed white Distress Paint over the chipboard. I was really happy with the outcome!

Then came the 2 hearts….hence the title “2 hearts, 1 love!”

The chipboard hearts were simply embossed with Emerald Creek Charred Gold and Tim Holtz Black Soot distress powders. I started by covering the heart with Charred gold, heat set it, added more embossing ink and then gently sprinkled black in random spots and heat set it again.

Then I added a few other embellishments here and then and voila….done!
