Adore Spring Tag with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. Spring is definitely here and the flowers are starting to bloom here on Vancouver Island. So for today's post, I've created this Adore Spring Tag that's perfect for that special someone in your life.  You'll want to read below as I share with you how I created my Adore Spring Tag at home.

To start, take a Chipboard Tag out of the package. Trace the chipboard tag around the cherry blossom patterned paper. Cut the patterned paper tag out. Ink the edges of both the chipboard tag and the patterned paper tag using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam. 

Trace a circle around the bird and cut the circle out. Ink the edges of the circle using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Take two of the Bare Branches out of the package. Ink the entire surface of the branches using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Take the Daisy Frame out of the package. Apply two coats of Rose Quartz Dylusions paint to the frame. 

Apply a coat of Peony Blush Dylusion Paint to an Wood Adore Tags. Before it completely dries, rub off some of the paint using hand sanitizer on a paper towel. Ink the edges of the tag using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Adhere the patterned paper tag to the chipboard tag.

Foam square the bird circle to the middle of the tag. Adhere the branches down the left side of the bird circle.

Adhere the daisy frame over top of the bird circle. Adhere the adore tag to the bottom middle of the daisy frame.

In the top right hand corner of the tag, adhere the white lily and two medium dark pink flowers.

On the left hand side of the tag, adhere a dark pink lily, two medium white flowers, four light pink small flowers and three dark pink small flowers.

To finish the top right hand corner with the flowers, add a medium pink flower, a dark small flower and two light pink flowers.

To finish the top of your tag, add some white ribbon.

Adore Valentine's Day Card with Deb Riddell

Hello everyone and thank you for stopping by, it’s Deb Riddell here with you today to share a quick and easy Valentine’s Day card created with Southern Ridge Trading Company’s Heart stencil, Taneesha Heart and Love and Hearts Banner chipboard and Wood Adore Tags.

I was inspired by Julia Chupik of Paradise Lost who made a beautiful card with water based pigment ink (click here to see her process video).  I admired her use of white space on her card which I always struggle with so decided to give it a go myself.

I started with a piece of plain old white copy paper, spritzed some Frankly Scarlet and Raspberry Infusions with water  and dipped and dragged the copy paper through it.  Once dried, I randomly stamped the paper with the Ledger Script stamp and Vintage Photo Distress Archival ink and then stenciled hearts onto the background with Southern Ridge’s Heart stencil and Ranger Transparent Gloss Texture Paste.

The Taneesha Heart chipboard was covered with white gesso and then dipped repeatedly into diluted Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry Distress inks on my craft mat.  The edges were inked with Ground Espresso Distress ink and then some Indian Gold Nuvo Mousse was diluted with more water and randomly applied to the heart with my finger.

I forgot to take a picture of the Hearts Banner before I put it onto the card, sorry about that!  The Hearts Banner chipboard was also covered with white gesso and this time I coloured it with Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide inks and more diluted Indian Gold Nuvo Mousse.  As you can see, the stenciled Heart background was adhered to a kraft cardstock card blank.

The Wood Adore Tag was first coloured with Vintage Photo Distress Stain and once it had dried, Tarnished Brass Distress Crayon was rubbed over the surface and then quickly removed to only leave it in the recessed ‘adore’ word.

And then the card was assembled, the Hearts Banner was adhered along the top edge.

And the Taneesha Heart nestled on an angle below the banner with the Wood Adore Tag added to the center of the heart with a brad coloured with Gold Mixative.

You can see the texture and shine from the stenciled hearts and the Nuvo Mousse in the picture below.

I hope that you’ve enjoyed seeing how my Adore Valentine’s Day card came together, I haven’t quite mastered the use of white space as expertly as Julia but I do like the way it turned out.

Love Wall Hanging

Katelyn here, I'm back on the blog today featuring a Mixed Media  Love Wall Hanging. With our Monthly Challenge being all about love, it gave me the perfect amount of inspiration for my piece. With that, I'm excited to share my Love Wall Hanging and how I created it, so that you can create it at home.

To start, I needed to get my Mat Board base ready, so I primed it with a coat of White Gesso. Once the White Gesso was dry, I covered the Gesso layer in a layer of Ruby paint. After the paint was dry, I wanted to add more to my background. To get the script background, I applied Candied Apple Distress Ink to the entire script stamp and stamped onto the background. I continued apply ink to the stamp and stamping until I reach the end of the Mat Board. Before the ink dried on the stamped background, I cover the entire background with Onyx Frost Embossing Powder, then I heat embossed it. 

To add some extra dimension to the background I took my Heart stencil and applied Texture Paste to the middle top left corner and to the middle bottom right corner. Once the texture paste was dry, this came the fun part of getting to spray the entire background. I started with a layer of Abandoned Coral, then a layer of Black Soot, then a layer of Candied Apple and to finish, I added a layer of Perfect Pearls. 

Once the sprays were dry, I took Picket Fence Distress Paint, Worn Lipstick Distress Paint and Penny Paint and splatter them over the background to add some extra texture with a paint brush.

Once my background was done and the splatters were dried, I started working on the Rope Heart. For the rope heart, I covered it with a layer of Candied Apple Distress Ink. Once the Distress Ink was applied, I covered the rope heart with a layer of Candied Apple Distress Paint. After the Distress Paint had dried, I added some highlights of Black Soot Distress Ink to the rope heart where I desired. My rope heart needed some more texture so I added a layer of Rock Candy Distress Crackle Paint. Once the crackle paint dried, I applied VersaMark Ink over top of the heart and then sprinkled Clear Ultra Thick Embossing Powder over top of the entire rope heart. Once the rope heart was covered with embossing powder, I heat embossed it so that the embossing powder just melted, leaving some bubbles. 

The Love Word was quick and easy. I added a couple of layers of Worn Lipstick Distress Paint. Once the Distress Paint was dry, I covered the entire love word with VersaMark Ink. Once the VersaMark Ink was applied, I covered the entire love word with Clear Ultra Thick Embossing Powder and then heat embossed it. 

For the Wood Adore Tag, it was another quick and easy piece. I started by covering it in a layer of Picket Fence Distress Paint. Once the Distress Paint was dry, I took my blending tool with Black Soot Distress Ink on it and went over the entire Adore tag to highlight the word. 

My large coral and red flowers needed a highlight, so I covered them with VersaMark Ink and then sprinkled Iridescent Shimmer Embossing Powder over top of them. Once the flowers were covered with embossing powder, I heat embossed each one.

Some finishing touches for my wall hanging included adding a variety of smaller black, white, red and cream flowers around the larger coral and red flowers. The other thing I added were the metal key charms amongst the flowers as well as the "Love with all your heart" sticker to the bottom left of the rope heart.
