Spring Has Sprung Mini Album with Ava Gavloski

Hello and Welcome to Southern Ridge Trading Co.
Ava here and wanted to share with you a album in progress….

Let’s celebrate Spring.
Spring is here in various degrees of temperature, so let promote flowers, cool breezes and lots of sunshine.

front cover.jpg

This album cover is my delicate vision of new beginnings in Spring Time.  This album cover has been retired from the store and you can now find new designs in the store.

Here is one cover that would be great to design with.

So, let’s get started with the supplies to gather in preparation for applying many treatments to his album cover.

stencil photo.jpg

A wide range of stencils can be found in the Stencil tab of the store.

gesso.jpg

Apply gesso to the chipboard as a base treatment to lighten up the chipboard and have the mist mediums to have nice absorption.

glam painting.jpg

A little Glam painting and then of course some glimmer painting.

decoArt modeling paste.jpg

Remember the modeling paste to add texture to your project.
You can see on page 2 I used the small stencil.

Tip:  DecoArt Media Modeling paste will mix well with your glimmer mist as in this project  to colour the paste from white to your desired colour.  I added a small amount of green glimmer mist to the paste, mixed well and stippled the front cover outer edges of the album.

Add a few embellishment to my pages and my album is ready for photos.

Here are the 2 pages side by side.

Once I placed the album cover and page 1 back onto the rings, I wanted to create some fullness to the front cover and I achieved this with beautiful ribbons to cover the metal rings.

So, here is your look at the front cover.  I think this will be a continuous work of art as I continue to create pages throughout the next few months.

Let’s get started with the supplies…

supplies.jpg

All of these supplies will be linked at the bottom of this post.  Here you can see a stamp, stencil, birch wood gears and chipboard keys.  I know, I know this collection rock’s-it… and there is even more choices in the store.

stencil detail.jpg

Here in this photo you can see the texture and design from the gear stencil by applying a layer of modelling paste through the stencil.

stamp design.jpg

After all the pieces of chipboard have been primed with DecoArt Gesso, dried; I painted my textured tag, and key chipboard with DecoArt Paint.  I applied ink to the key stamp and stamped onto the wings of the chipboard key.  The stamp really add’s to the overall steampunk look.

top of key.jpg

Added a little paint splatter to give the tag the rustic look and tied a ribbon at the top of the tag. How do you like a the soft pastel version of the traditional grunge dark steampunk projects.  I found it a challenge to not go dark.  So, how about you the reader and scraper can you give it a Pastel try?

The Chai in Tea puts the Happy in Me Card by Ava Gavloski

Hello and Welcome to Southern Ridge Trading Company.
Ava here to share a jewel tone green and gold card to cheer on St. Patrick’s Day.

I am super happy with the great presentation of this card.
Truly showcases the WOW factor that Southern Ridge Trading Co.’s chipboard can create on this card front.

teacardfull.jpg

I had lots of fun testing the 2 tone effect on this chipboard piece.
This is a new release in the store.

Let start with a few quick steps to get this chipboard prepared for the card base.

frame.jpg

Ink up the frame and use a little water on the paint brush to smooth out the colour.

ink.jpg

Ink up the tea pot and tea cup and smooth out the colour again with water and paint brush.
Then ink up the sentiment with VersaMark I used a  VersaMark pen and pad.
Sprinkle some gold embossing powder on the sentiment and heat set.

Once the embossing powder has cooled, start to assemble the card.
