Happy Birthday Gift Tag with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. I'm thrilled to be back on the blog today sharing my Happy Birthday Gift Tag perfect to add to a gift bag or wrapped gift. To create my tag, I've used a variety of our popular fall and everyday chipboard pieces. You'll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my Happy Birthday Gift Tag at home.

To start, you'll need one Chipboard Tag. Trace the chipboard tag around a fall piece of patterned paper. Cut the paper tag out. Punch the hole at the top of the paper tag. Ink the edges of the paper tag using Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

Next, you'll need five Itty Bitty Maple Leaves.

From the Fall Leaves, you'll need to choose three of the leaves. Apply Emboss It Ink to two of the leaves and sprinkle Baked Texture - Taos Sunset Embossing Powder over each leaf. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Apply Emboss It Ink to the other leaves and sprinkle Baked Texture - Chunky Rust Embossing Powder over the leaf. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. 

Choose two Tribal Feathers from the Tribal Feather Mix package. Apply Emboss It Ink to one of the leaves and sprinkle Baked Texture - Chunky Rust Embossing Powder over the feather. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. Apply Emboss It Ink to the other feather and sprinkle Forest Foliage Embossing Powder over the feather. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. 

From the Birthday Greetings sentiments, cut out one of the Happy Birthdays. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Happy Birthday sentiment and sprinkle Burnt Copper Embossing Powder over the sentiment. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.  

You'll need the small Abstract Circle Frame from the Abstract Circle Frames. Apply Emboss It Ink to the frame and sprinkle Weathered Wood Embossing Powder over the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.  

The last chipboard piece you'll need is the damask ornament.

Adhere the paper tag to the chipboard tag.

Adhere the abstract circle frame to the damask ornament. Apply foam squares to the left hand side of the damask ornament and adhere to the middle right hand side of the tag.

Adhere one of the Taos Sunset leaves in the top left side of the frame. Adhere the two feathers to the middle of the frame. Adhere the remaining embossed leaves to the bottom right side of the frame.

Adhere the Happy Birthday sentiment to the middle of the circle frame. Adhere the five itty bitty maple leaves around the frame as desired. 

To finish the tag, tie a piece of twine to the top of the tag.

Wicked Halloween Card with Katelyn Grosart

Hey Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. Halloween is only 20 days away and I've been busy creating Halloween projects, so I've created this Wicked Halloween Card perfect to give to that special someone in your life. You'll want to read below as I share with you how to recreate my Wicked Halloween Card at home.

To start, you'll need the Oval Chain Frame. Apply two coats of black gesso to the frame. Once the paint has dried, randomly apply the Emboss It Ink to the frame and sprinkle Wrought Iron Boho Blends embossing powder to the frame. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool. 

Next, you'll need the wicked word from the Wicked Halloween Word Mix. Apply a coat of Emboss It Ink to the word and sprinkle Baked Texture - Taos Sunset embossing powder over the entire surface of the word. Tap off the excess powder and emboss with a heat tool.

The next three steps will use the Fall Leaves.

Choose three leaves and apply two coats of Fired Brick Distress Paint to the leaves. Once the leaves have dried, rub either Ground Espresso or Walnut Stain Distress Crayon to each of the leaves.

Choose three leaves and one Itty Bitty Kraft Maple Leaves and apply two coats of Carved Pumpkin Distress Paint to the leaves. Once the leaves have dried, rub either Ground Espresso or Walnut Stain Distress Crayon to each of the leaves.

Choose two more leaves and apply two coats of Spiced Marmalade Distress Paint to the leaves. Once the leaves have dried, rub either Ground Espresso or Walnut Stain Distress Crayon to each of the leaves.

The last chipboard piece you'll need is a zombie. Apply two coats of Antique Linen Distress Paint to the zombie. Once the paint has dried, rub Black Soot Distress Crayon on the zombie.

From the Halloween Night Paper Pack, you'll need to choose three patterned papers. From one piece of patterned, die cut a 4 1/2" Stitched Rectangle. From the second patterned paper piece, die cut a 4" Stitched Rectangle. From the third patterned paper piece, die cut a 3 1/2" Stitched Oval. Distress the edges of all the pieces. Ink the edges of all of the pieces using Black Soot Distress Ink and a blending tool with foam.

The last piece you'll need before assembly, is to cut a piece of cheesecloth.

Adhere the 4" stitched rectangle to the 4 1/2" stitched rectangle. Adhere the cheesecloth to the middle of the 4" stitched rectangle. Foam square the stitched oval to the middle of the cheesecloth. Adhere the oval chain frame overtop of the stitched oval.

On the left hand side of the oval frame, adhere five leaves and the zombie as desired.

Adhere the wicked word to the right of the leaves. Adhere the other three remaining leaves around the top portion of the oval frame.

Because it still seemed a little bare around the top portion of the frame, I adhered three more Itty Bitty Kraft Maple Leaves. On the left side of the frame in amongst the leaves, I adhere some tumbled carnelian gemstones, a couple of metal pinecones and a pumpkin. To finish the card, cut a cardbase that measures 5 3/4" x 9", score at 4 1/2". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.
