Memories Canvas by Corina Finley

Corina is sharing with you today, a gorgeous Memories Canvas!

Hello!

I am so glad you have joined me, Corina, today for my post! I have created a shadow box style canvas of my two boys (Tyler and Colten) to share with you.

I started my project by picking my Chipboard embellishments and having them in front of me on my work surface along with my Canvas. I decided to flip the canvas upside down and use it as a Shadow Box style frame.

I cut the Lg Frame Gears into a few pieces and glued them in the opening of the frame using Multi Medium. I also cut the keys from that design, using one in the frame (under the picture in the middle), one on the left side of the frame and two on top of the Gears Banner - jumbo.

I added burlap and a few metal embellishments to the layout. I used a paintbrush to cover everything with a even coat of black gesso. I painted the sides of the canvas plus the banner and the Memories Word with the black gesso. I set it aside to dry.

Once dry, I used Lindys sprays to add the colour and heat set between colour layers. I love the look that I have created and the depth that the different embellishments give. I added paper to the frame and used a gear stencil and distress ink to create a soft design.

The Gears Banner was adhered to the frame at the top, bottom and right side. To finish off my frame, I added the metal bolts to the corners, the Memories Word and Key embellishments.

Adventure Layout with Katelyn Grosart

Katelyn here, I'm back on the blog today featuring a beautiful  "Adventure"  scrapbook layout featuring a photo of myself when I graduated in 2010. I thought that the "Adventure" word would be the perfect word for the picture. Make sure to check out our current Monthly Challenge which features anything Easter as there is only two days left to enter. With that, I'm excited to share my "Adventure" scrapbook layout, so that you can create it at home.

To start my layout, I needed to get my chipboard pieces ready. The first set of chipboard pieces I worked on were the keyholes. I applied a layer of Black Soot Distress Ink over the entire surface of each of the keyholes. Once I was happy with the coverage, I applied a layer of Brushed Pewter Distress Stain over top of each keyhole. Before the stain dried on both keyholes, I wiped some of the stain off with a piece of paper towel.

The next set of chipboard pieces I used were the Plain Tags. I took some of the Graphic 45 "Cityscapes" paper that I used on the rest of the layout and covered two of the plain tags. I also added a black bow to the tag and an ornate key from Graphic 45.

The next piece I used on my layout was the Adventure Word. I covered the Adventure word in a layer of Black soot Distress Ink and then sprinkled on a layer of Onyx Frost Embossing Powder overtop. Once the embossing powder covered the entire word, I embossed it with my heat tool.

The last set of chipboard pieces I used was the Honeycomb Pattern and cut it up into smaller pieces for two corners of my layout. I didn't want to leave the honeycomb pattern in it's raw chipboard form, so I painted them with a layer of Black Gesso.

Once the chipboard pieces were done, I placed each of the keyholes in the ripped areas on my layout, only showing half of them.

Before I started layering the Graphic 45 "Cityscapes" onto my layout, I figured out where I wanted my honeycomb in the top right hand bottom left hand corner. Once I adhered them down, then I could start layering my paper pieces on top.

The finishing touches to my layout were adding the flowers around the picture and the "Adventure" word underneath the photo.

Giant Embossed Easter Egg by Karen Bearse

Karen Bearse is back on the blog today to share a fabulous Easter Project for you and to give you some inspiration for our current challenge, which you can find all of the details here.

With the Easter Bunny readying his eggs I thought I would get in the act.

This project was surprisingly pretty quick to make. I covered a plastic jumbo egg using

embossed metal foil and acrylic paint. Markers quickly covered the pretty maple leaves, while Glimmer Glam added some shine & shimmer. A touch of metallic copper paint to distress was all that was needed to finish the leaves off. I carefully glued my leaves to the egg using Glossy Accents and some constant pressure. I have to say I was a bit surprised they stuck on so well. Using the beautiful Easter sentiment and various spring colors of embossing powder seemed a good way to make my title. Sadly the egg is not solid chocolate but that means I have a decoration I can pull out next year. I hope you have a wonderful Easter weekend!

Vintage Hoppy Easter Card with Corina Finley

Thank you for joining me, Corina, for my blog post showcasing my Vintage Easter Bunny Card. 

To start my card, I embossed Kraft cardstock for the base and center square using a Cuttlebug embossing folder. I applied an Archival Ink pad in Coffee Colour direct to paper, hitting the raised embossed areas. I wanted a Shabby Chic look so I applied the ink heavily not worrying about the ink colouring the non embossed area. 

I used my sewing machine to sew around the border of the base, Burlap layer, and center square. I love the added touch that the sewn stitches give cards. A group of three flowers, a piece of lace, and twine adorn the left corner.

I applied Aged Ivory Embossing Enamel to the Vintage Oval Mirror Fancy and heat set to give a vintage look. The grass was cut using a Cheery Lynn Designs Grass Border die. I over lapped using two different green tones and laid them inside the bottom of the Vintage Oval Mirror Fancy.

I used one chipboard bunny from the Lg Bunnies set and he is nestled into the grass, as a focal point in the center of the Oval Mirror Frame. I covered the entire Bunny with Be Creative double sided tape, sprinkled bronze glitter and burnished. I added one sentiment tag from the Easter wood tags to the bottom of the Oval Mirror Frame. I cut the loop off the left side of the Hoppy Easter tag with scissors and edged with vintage Photo Distress Ink. Added Wink of Stella Clear Glitter and Star Dust pen to the top to give a shimmer.

Happy Easter Wood Tray with Katelyn Grosart

Katelyn here, I'm back on the blog today featuring a Mixed Media  "Happy Easter"  Wood Tray. With our Monthly Challenge being all about Easter, it gave me the perfect amount of inspiration for my piece. Have you joined in in our Monthly Challenge yet? With that, I'm excited to share my "Happy Easter" Wood Tray and how I created it, so that you can create it at home.

To start my wood tray, I applied a thin layer of White Gesso randomly over the entire wood tray. Once the White Gesso dried, I painted a layer of Blush Paint from Paper Artsy over the entire wood tray. Before the pink paint dried, I took a piece of paper towel and removed some of the pink paint to show some of the Gesso.  Once the pink paint dried, I placed my chicken wire stencil over top of the entire wood tray and blended Worn Lipstick over top of the stencil. To dry my stencil image, I dried it with a heat tool. Once the stencil image was dry, I took my blending tool and foam and went around the edges of the tray with Vintage Photo Distress Ink. Once the ink was on the edges, I sprinkled Soft Fallen Snow Embossing Powder around the edges and then heat embossed them. 

Next it was time to liven up my Leafy Branches and Small Bunny  so I covered them in three layers of  Walnut Stain Distress Paint. 

The last piece I wanted to liven up was the Happy Easter Welded Words so I covered the word in three layers of Worn Lipstick Distress Paint. Once the Worn Lipstick Distress Paint was dry, I applied a layer of Versmark and then covered the word with Ultra Thick Embossing Powder in Clear. Once the word was covered with embossing powder, I embossed it with my heat tool. 

The last piece I prepped for my tray was a small white doily which I inked the edges with Worn Lipstick Distress Ink.

Some finishing touches for my layout included adding a variety of pink and white roses as well as white tulips and white flowers. I also attached the ribbon to the wood tray before attaching the doily. The last two elements in the bottom right floral bunch was the crystal hat pins and the pink flowers.
