All that Gliters

Hello I've decided to try my hand at a video tutorial,

I stutter and repeat myself a lot so bear with me.

If you've watched the video, I'd suggest a quick scan of the information here as I may have forgotten to share it in the video.

I'm having so much fun with the chipboard,

I wanted to try some different ways to decorate

and I just loved how this worked out, I had to share.

 

I'm including the still shots with explanation as I know some may not be able to watch videos.

These are the pieces I'll be using today.

They are Xmas-155 from Southern Ridge Trading Co

 

  

Using a white acrylic paint, Not too thin,

paint a dry or light layer down. Get the edges; inside and out.

Make sure not to have too much paint or your chipboard can warp. 

 

You can skip this step and the effect you have will be an antique looking finish

as the chipboard color will darken the colors.

I wanted my color to be brighter and therefore needed the white base.

 

You'll need to let it dry completely before moving on.

 

If you are creating a tree or package ornament, you will repeat the step on the other side.

Allow to dry first.

hanging the piece as you work may effect the outcome.

 

 

Next, you're going to add your thin, dry layer of liquid glue.

making sure to cover the entire surface.

Do not put your glue in the edges here

 

Use a paper or glitter tray to catch the extra glitter

Pour your Elizabeth Craft Design microfine glitter over top,

I'm using Cool Diamond

 shake off excess.

Let dry completely.

 

This glitter is created to use in coloring with any alcohol based markers and will not harm your pens

  

Once dry take a soft paintbrush, brushing to remove remaining loose glitter

 

 

You're ready to color up in your favorite combos.

 

This is actually a snowflake but I immediately saw red berries, leaves and the floral center.

So many possibilities. Go wild!

 

Once complete, you can run a metallic embroidery floss or thin ribbon through.
Adhere to card or package or hang from tree.

Sit back and gaze upon your beautiful embellishment or ornament.

Enjoy yourself and have fun.

 

 



Mixed Media TAG - using NAT-306

Hello Everyone, it's me, Dunja, from Germany. Sorry for being quiet, but the health is more important than crafting, right? ;)  Well, I am happy, to be back again. I'm here today to show you my latest creation using the great Southern Ridge Trading Company stuff. I created a mixed media TAG and I've used the NAT-306 Leaves. They are available in two different sizes and I used both of them for my creation. The tag is full of layers, different styles, colors, mediums and pearls. I colored the leaves with my Faber-Castell Gelato's.  I love those colors. The size of the tag is 20x7 cm. 

Here is a little How To that'll show you how I created my TAG on the base. 

At first I've used Gesso and then I added the colors of the Faber-Castell Gelatos: Snow Cone and Acqua Dolce.

Then I did some stamping on the background. The lines are very delicate and it looks great. After stamping I have used the the Mask Art - Geometric Tiles with the texture paste, applied with a spatula, then it had to dry briefly. I have used a gel paste also and when it was dry, it sparkles a little bit, iridescent. After the next Drying phase I used the Mask A5 Burlap and some color sprays, once turquoise and even a pearl glitter. In the close-ups you can see the better.

After everything has dried, I applied gel medium on the tag. Because it dries so beautifully transparent, you can sprinkle the small beads (or glitter etc.). The effect is really awesome. I also add on my TAG some ribbon, flowers, a large organza flower and rhinestones.

So Grateful

I'm so excited to be sharing my first post with Southern Ridge Trading Company. I was fortunate to discover this amazing company when I was at a trade show in Edmonton last month.

Southern Ridge Trading Company chipboard and wood products are amazing and the potential to include them on page layouts and cards is endless.

This single page layout is very special to me as the pictures were Christmas presents from my step brother, my step sister and myself to our Dad.  I'm just now getting around to scrapbooking them and I felt there was no better way than featuring two different types of embellishments from SRTC.

The SRTC chipboard banner is BAN-284. I left it in its natural state as the detail on the banner is absolutely stunning. I added a label from the Authentique "Grateful" collection in the blank space so I could give my layout a title. 

The detail on the SRTC wood keys is amazing.

She's Framed!!!

Happy Thursday to all of the SRTC fans. We are so happy that you came by today and hope to see you again and again. We love showing how we have used the wonderful products from the Southern Ridge Trading Company.

I have used the gorgeous frame - FRA-133 - which I painted with white spray acrylic paint. I then used square Spellbinders to frame and reframe the frame...haha The SB squares fit perfectly around and into the opening of FRA-133. I added some lavender stitched ribbon for the verticals and for the single flat bows. I used MS rose leaf cuts and some mulberry roses for the corners of the frame. The sweet image is a Wee Stamps digi Maya which I colored with Copics and Promarkers, adding Prisma Glitter to her wings. The DP is from the Memory Box Enchanted paper pack. Finally I added rhinestones to soften the corners.

  I know, wrong season.

Hey, I can never be too early right?

 

I'm super excited to be sharing my first post with Southern Ridge Trading Company

 I've loved these pieces for a very long time.

 

 Now for me, I've not used a lot of chipboard so I thought...I'll start slow.

Now I can't stop. I am having such a blast with them.

Using Tim Holtz DI, I've distressed the edge then taking decoart snow writer pen.

I've added a bit of snow on top, gave it a dusting of glitter for a real holiday feel,

Finally, added a bit of ribbon and I'm good.

 I just love it! 

 

 

I can't believe how versatile these tags and all the products are.

I'm going to have a lot of fun with these gems.

Frames!!

I made this card for my stepdaughter's birthday and I cheated a little and asked her if she liked the artist's images before creating this card for her.

The papers are from Pion Designs and ironically I just realized they are called "My Precious Daughter".  ha ha ha!  The cute tassel is from Prima and the pen nib on my butterfly (hiding behind my bouquet of flowers) is from Tim Holtz.

The pretty frame (#FRA-10) is from Southern Ridge Trading Company and I added TH rock candy to distress it and then some painted it with Gesso.

I am doing an online challenge, its an altered playing card challenge and I am using just a regular card pack. My week 4 project was to do something house/home related, so what better than to use one of the gorgeous little houses from Southern Ridge Trading Co. HHP-394. I love the dimension my house has ... 

This is a mixed media project, with a textured background, paint, sprays, alcohol inks, doodling, stamping etc ...  You can see some of the detail in this close up. The house was painted with a stone colored acrylic paint, then I lightly stamped a text stamp over it to add some texture and depth.

Doesn't it look like a happy, fun place to be :)
