Hey there Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here. It was my mom's birthday on Saturday and she loves anything sea. So with her birthday in mind, I set out to create her a beautiful Seaside Happy Birthday Card. What's fabulous about this card, is that it can be made for any special person in your life. Grab a cup of your favourite beverage and read below as I share with you how I created my Seaside Happy Birthday Card.
To start, take two Mini Wood Sand Dollars out of the package. Apply two coats of Antique Linen Distress Paint to the Mini Wood Sand Dollars. Let the sand dollars aside to dry.
Once the paint has dried on the Sand Dollars, apply Antique Linen Distress Crayon to each sand dollar. Rub the distress crayon into each sand dollar.
Take two Mini Wood Clam Shells out of the package. Apply two coats of Picket Fence Distress Paint to both clam shells. Let the clam shells dry.
Once the paint has dried on the Clam Shells, apply Picket Fence Distress Crayon to each clam shell. Rub the distress crayon into each clam shell.
From the Abstract Circle Frames, pull out the large circle frame. Apply two coats of Picket Fence Distress Paint to the frame. Set the frame aside to dry.
After the paint has dried on the circle frame, apply Vintage Photo Distress Crayon to the circle frame. Rub the distress crayon into the circle frame.
Apply two coats of Light Patina paint to two Mini Wood Starfish. Set the starfish aside to dry.
From the Ocean Mix #1, pull out the seahorse. Apply two coats of Light Patina paint to the seahorse. Set the seahorse aside to dry.
Choose a Happy Birthday sentiment from the Birthday Greetings. Cut your chosen Happy Birthday sentiment out. Apply Emboss It Ink to the Happy Birthday Sentiment. Sprinkle Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder over the entire Happy Birthday sentiment. Emboss the Happy Birthday sentiment with your heat tool.
Cut two 2" x 3" pieces from the Fish Net Pattern. Apply Emboss It Ink to the two fish net pieces. Sprinkle Burnt Copper Leaves Embossing Powder over each fish net piece. Emboss the fish net pieces with your heat tool.
The last piece of chipboard you'll need to decorate are two Coral pieces. Cut your chosen two Coral pieces out. Apply two coats of Picket Fence Distress Paint to the Coral pieces. Once the paint has dried, apply Emboss It Ink over each coral piece. Sprinkle Green Satin Pearl Embossing Powder over each Coral piece. Emboss the Coral pieces with your heat tool.
Before we start assembling your card, you'll need to cut some patterned paper. To start, cut once piece of patterned paper that measures 5 3/4" x 5 3/4". Cut a second piece of patterned paper that measures 5 1/4" x 5 1/4". On the 5 1/4" piece of patterned paper, on the bottom right hand side of the paper, tear the paper 1/4" up. On the same piece of paper, in the top left hand side of the paper, tear the paper 1/4" down. Distress the edges of the patterned paper. Ink the edges of the patterned paper with a blending tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Cut a piece of patterned paper that measures 5 1/2" x 5 1/2". Place the 5 1/4" piece of patterned paper over top of the 5 1/2" piece of patterned paper. With the two pieces together, on the 5 1/2" piece of patterned paper, in the bottom right hand side of the paper, tear the paper 1/4" up. On the same piece of paper, in the top left hand side of the paper, tear the paper 1/4" down. Distress the edges of the patterned paper. From the same piece of patterned paper, you'll also need to die cut one stitched circle that measures 3 1/2" and a second stitched circle that measures 3". Distress the edges of the patterned paper. Ink the edges of the patterned paper with a blending tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
From the image piece of paper, die cut the ship out of the 2 3/4" stitched circle. Distress the edges of the patterned paper. Ink the edges of the ship circle with a blending tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
From the borders piece of paper, cut out the 3 blue pennants from the border strip. Ink the edges of the pennants with a blending tool and Vintage Photo Distress Ink.
Now it's time to assemble your card.
On top of the 5 3/4" piece of patterned paper, adhere one of the fish net pattern piece in the bottom right hand corner of the paper. Adhere the other fish net pattern piece in the top left hand corner. Make sure that you leave 1/4" border around each piece.
Adhere the 5 1/4" piece of patterned paper to the 5 1/2" piece of patterned paper. Adhere the 5 1/2" patterned paper piece to the 5 3/4" patterned paper piece.
Adhere the scallop patterned paper stitched circle to the fish stitched circle. Foam square the ship stitched circle to the scallop patterned paper stitched circle.
Adhere the fish stitched circle to the middle of the 5 1/4" piece of patterned paper.
Adhere the large circle abstract frame over top of the stitched circles.
Adhere the Happy Birthday sentiment to the bottom of the circle abstract frame. Using thin foam squares, adhere the pennant border in the top right hand corner of the card.
In the top left hand corner of the circle abstract frame, adhere one of coral pieces, a sand dollar, a clam shell, a starfish and a real shell.
In the bottom right hand corner of the abstract circle frame, adhere a seahorse, a coral piece, a sand dollar, a clam shell, a starfish and two real shells.
Cut a 6" x 12" piece of Superstock Cardstock. Score at 6". Adhere the cardfront to the cardbase.
