“Always Believe” Mixed Media Tag with Karen Jiles

Hi there,

It’s Karen sharing an “Always Believe” Mixed Media Tag that I created with the Fibers Stencil and Giraffes chipboard. This was super fun to create. I enjoyed coordinating the stencil and animal chipboard together and then adding some awesome texture to really make this tag pop. Take a look at how this tag came together in the tutorial below.

Step 1: Lay Fiber Stencil on top of manila tag. Transfer Fiber Stencil pattern onto tag using a Media Spatula and Nuvo Expanding Mousse. Note: I combined 2 different Expanding Mousses (Mustard Seed and Worn Linen) to create the taupe coloured Mousse application that was added to the manila tag.

Step 2: Heat set the Expanding Mousse to create a bubbly texture and apply Shimmer Powders (Solar Flare and Catherine Wheel). Mist water to the tag. Heat set to dry and set aside.

Step 3: Cover chipboard Giraffes with Custard Cream Nuvo Embellishment Mousse using a blending tool. Distress edges of chipboard with Cosmic Brown Nuvo Embellishment Mousse. Heat set to dry.

Step 4: Tie dyed ribbon around the bottom of the tag, adhere Giraffes using E6000 and add dyed ribbon bow to tallest Giraffe.

Step 5: Adhere “Always” and “Believe” sentiment die cuts to the tag.

Step 6: Using gesso and a paint brush, highlight the dyed ribbon. Tap on gesso to enhance the overall design.

Step 8: Continue embellishing as desired.
