Life's Beauty Canvas

For this Design Team project, I made an 8x8 canvas piece, full of handmade paper flowers & pieces of chipboard from Southern Ridge Trading Company which I covered with two different colours of Walnut Ink by Tsukineko.

The leafy branch is item GAR-285 and the lovely flourishes are GAR-284. I used Kaiser Craft's Key to My Heart Collection for the papers.

The leaves were sprayed with the Eucalyptus colour of Walnut Ink.
The flourishes were sprayed with Terra Cotta Walnut Ink.

I used dies from Cheery Lynn Designs for the flowers. The punched border is from EK Success. The butterfly is from a Martha Stewart punch. The title was printed off in different fonts from my computer on kraft cardstock.
I hope I inspired you to move off the scrapbook page & onto a fun medium like canvas for a gorgeous home decor project! Cheers! :)

Making honey ...

I was inspired by this hexagonal chipboard piece, its a 5.5``x 5.5`` pattern (PAT-274) and it shouted out to me : Honeycomb ! The dimension that the chipboard gave was perfect for this project, which is a Birthday card for a bee loving friend :

The chipboard is fairly sturdy but very easy to cut into the desired shape to fit this 5``x 7`` card.

Each hexagon was painted individually with gold acrylic paint and a large dollop of Crystal Effects added. The end result is amazing, its gold and wet looking, just like real honey :) Look at the comb ... its just perfect.
The stamp set I used for the bees, crown and sentiment is an itty bitty stamp by Unity called All Hail the Birthday Queen. The bees wings are stamped and embossed on velum card stock.

This project was very absorbing and enjoyable to do, I hope you like it and leave a comment.

Have a fun day. Nikki x

Some Fence and Sign Chipboard

WOW I have LOADED this card with all kinds of stuff from all over the place!  LOL!!  I started out with my favorite paper company "Maja Designs" and used the gorgeous Vintage Spring Basics. I just love those butterfly dies from Noor Design.  So pretty!

This picture is to show the cute little chipboard wood fence from Southern Ridge Trading Company.  I colored the fence with some TH daubers first and then sprayed some kind of gold flecked mist over top.  (Sorry can't remember the name.)  The flower is from Prima but I've had for a long time so it was nice to finally use it.  LOL!  The gorgeous lace is from Live and Love Crafts

Isn't this heart sign just the cutest?  This is also from SRTC and I painted it with TH crackle paint.  The "Love" sentiment, the heart sign and fence all comes in one set.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Flourish Card

Hello and Welcome, hope your day is going great!!
Today I want to show you a card I made with Karen's awesome chipboard.  I used FLO-009 available here.  I decided to leave the flourishes the way they were in their natural state as they look great on the card.  I love the color they come in and the darkness around the edge.

Here is a closeup of the flourish, there are 5 in a package and I used 2 on my card.  I glued on a resin flower to the one while tucking the other into the florals I used.

You can get all kinds of awesome chipboard pieces here at the Southern Ridge Chipboard Store and they go onto anything.  They are sturdy and really fun to alter to fit my creations.

Have a great day!

'Let it go' canvas

Its quite a topical expression at the moment, thanks to the song 'Let it go' from the Disney movie 'Frozen'. It has a deep significance really, to let go of whatever is holding you back and bogging you down. I wanted to make a canvas that I can look at and be reminded of that. There is so much inspirational art, quotes and expressions around at the moment, why not make your own :)

For the canvas, I wanted a stark contrast between the dark textured background and the gold embossed leaves (NAT-306) and flower (FLW-001), new in the store at Southern Ridge Trading Company.

The leaves are a pack of 8 and come in two sizes, perfect for this 5x7" canvas. The flower is a pack of 6, in various designs. I embossed a button for the flower centre. The chipboard held up really well to the Stampendous embossing enamel, and I did a number of layers in alternating colors to get this effect you can see here :

Hope you like my canvas,  appreciate the sentiment and are encouraged to 'let it go' ...
Hugs

You're So Beary Cute - Scrapbook Page

Hey everyone! Don't we have the most talented designers submitting their work for Southern Ridge Trading Company? I'm so inspired by what has been posted here already!

I've been playing around with a heart theme for this week's post. I used the adorable heart border BOR-150 and coloured it using my Smooch Spritz Spray. It covers the chipboard & wooden pieces amazingly! I love how it jazzes it up with some sparkle and who doesn't love sparkle?

The little wooden LOVE heart piece below is adorable left in it's "natural" state...

I used the smallest heart in the Heart frame set to pop up the title. I used the Smooch Spritz spray on it as well! How fun!

Here's a close up shot of BOR-150. Doesn't it look great with the button's popped up on that sparkled surface?

Make sure to check out all the amazing posts on the blog here from all the designers & leave comments for us! We love to hear from you too! Cheers!

Creative Fuel Canvas

Hey it's Cheri here!!! Seems I've lost a day here somewhere and I swore I had to post this TOMORROW... but I see on the little clock that it's the NINTH today! Oy!! Have you done that? I blame a lack of good coffee in my blood so I've made a BIG pot of my favorite blend and sat down to get serious! haha!!

Ok so today I have another mixed media canvas to show you (can you tell that's sorta my thing??) I have SO many stamps and embellishments around the coffee addict theme that I wanted to just sit down with them all and make something cool about COFFEE!! And use some AWESOME shapes from SRTC!!!  And here you are!

So I started by drawing out that coffee mug outta chipboard myself and covered it in paper from a DCWV pack. then I made the border by starting with a layer of dry wall tape and the some grungeboard and chipboard shapes, buttons and anything else I could find, then althernated painting and spraying with glimmer mist products. I had plans to do even more to this project in general but.... long store made short.... I had back surgery! So, here we are! :)

What do you think?? It was fun to make that's for sure! The steam from the coffee is from SRTC as well as that pink tag and the little clock in the corner. Lots of the little bits and bobs in the painted up border are also from Southern Ridge Trading Co. They are getting more and more fun and unique products on their site it's hard not to want them ALL!!!
Here's a closer shot of the tag.

Sure hope you get a chance to be crafty today!!!!
Cheers and Happy Crafting!!

Wee Florist

Hi all!!  Today I'm stopping by to share a creation I made using image called "Wee Florist" by Sylvia Zet.  Isn't she a cutie?

I've used these chipboard leaves from SRTC and covered them leaves using Tim Holtz crackle paint.   With our dollar on the rise, it's nice to have the choice to stay local.  Woo hoo!!  I love how they turned out!!

This doily border is also from SRTC.  This time I covered the chipboard with white TH distress paint and then some white frantage.  Both of these pieces will be in the store within the next few weeks.

If you can't something on the store you are looking for just leave a comment here and we'd be happy to help you out!!

THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!!

Hoppy Easter

Happy Thursday and I'm so glad to finally have arrived............LOL  This has been one of the most challenging posts I've done for awhile due to some family issues but gosh darn, I gotter done.  Apologies for being a little late

Easter will be here before we know it and I'm trying to get a little ahead on family cards.  The bunny image is precolored from The Paper Shelter and the adorable image is from Artbymarin, which I have colored with Copics using Diamond Glaze for her eyes.  This is one of the images I won from Judy as part of her bloganniversary candy named Cottontail.

Don't you just love this "Hoppy Easter" CEL-042 piece of chipboard from Southern Ridge Trading Co. that is designed by Karen.  There are Easter Eggs too that I just didn't get dyed in time to add. I've added Gesso to the entire piece and then some color using Victorian Velvet DI and Stickles.  The butterflies are die cuts from my stash with liquid pearls added.

Thanks so much for stopping by and I'll see you again soon.

Scrapbooking with Chipboard

Hello and thank you for stopping by Southern Ridge Chipboard Company today!
I love the chipboard pieces that Karen makes so I try to include several of them on the projects I make.  This time I made 2 scrapbook pages with 8 pieces of chipboard and I love how well they lay in the book when it was done!

Here is the first page of my youngest child who is now 5 years old, yes I am behind on his book! lol

On this page I used a banner (BAN-284) across the upper right hand corner of the baby photo.  I painted it cream and after it dried the lines came through so you still could see the banner style.  I wrote my son's name on it with a black multi-liner pen from Copic.
On the bottom left hand corner is (PAT-274) a pattern that I broke apart and Frantaged  in Shabby White.  I glued on a lamb from a scrapbook kit I used.  The little Key by the heart is from my first set that Karen sent me as a DT, that is covered in Frantage also.

This second page has 2 corner swirls (COR-181) that I frantaged with Aged Ivory.  The there are 2 hearts across the middle that are Frantaged in different colors.  On the bottom left is a tag (TAG-071) and a butterfly (INS-255).  The tag is covered in paper and if you notice the bottom, the swirls are part of the chipboard tag and of course I frantaged them, aren't they pretty!  The butterfly I painted blue and then dotted it with Liquid pearls.

For both of my pages I used the tape and glue that are listed under the Supplies Category in Karen's store.  Tape runner to lay the paper down and the paper embellishing and to glue down the chipboard pieces I used Glossy Accents. I have found these work the best and last the longest.

I have more photos of the pages on my blog if you would like to visit me Here.
Thank you for stopping by and have a great day,
