Daisy Chain with Tracy Moreau

You wouldn't think that Chains would go with a floral, That it might be too heavy or rustic looking, but I think that this light coloured metallic finish on this Chain Frame from Southern Ridge Trading, is oddly feminine with this Daisy.

This frame is unique and was such a fun thing to design with. I simply Made a list of things that go with the word CHAIN... when I hit on Daisy chain.. I thought PERFECT!  Now how do I make it work??

I started by selecting my colour palette.. whites , yellows, Blues, Oranges, and Of course Asphaltum, The background needed texture but nothing over the top, so I went with a stamped one that wouldn't compete with the texture of the chains. Then added  metallics  that reflect the over all colour palette.

I used a cosmetic sponge to dab Copper, 24 Kt Gold and a Little Turquoise, in small patches of colour all over the chain cut out. I then added small shadows (Thinned Black Paint) to enhance the shape of the chains individual links. I highlighted each link with a dry brush of White.

To create the background, I based the surface with buttermilk, then stamped over the entire background with  the Stamp ( Stampendous CRP249 ) ( I rolled  the Asphaltum onto the stamp with a small brayer).  I then antiqued the background with the same colour.

I painted the floral using DecoArt Media Fluid Acrylics, and Gesso for texture. It's a pretty straight forward piece to paint, as the texture in the petals and the centre does most of the work. The floats of thinned colours serve to enhance the texture created by the Gesso.
