Live in the Present, Dream in the Future Tag with Katelyn Grosart

Hey there Southern Ridge Trading Company fans, Katelyn here, and I'm up on the blog today to share with you some more inspiration for our current monthly challenge which is "Anything Summer".  With the challenge theme in mind, I set out and created a fun ocean tag.  I will share with you below how I transformed my chipboard pieces to create the perfect additions for my ocean tag.

To start, you'll need to grab the Ship Wheel and cut out the middle of it. After the middle has been removed, apply a coat of Walnut Stain Distress Paint. Once the paint is dry, place the woodgrain stencil over top of the ship wheel. With a blending tool and Potting Soil Archival ink, cover the stencil with ink so that the woodgrain image appears on the entire ship wheel. Set aside so that the archival ink can dry.

After the Archival Ink has dried on the ship wheel, place the ship wheel overtop of the Fish Net Pattern and cut a circle from it. This will be used for the middle of the ship wheel. Once the circle has been cut, apply a coat of Walnut Stain Distress Paint to fish net pattern. Set aside for the paint to dry.

From the Ocean Mix 1 you'll need to crab. Note: I used to sets of Ocean Mix 1 to get both crabs. Apply a coat of Candied Apple Distress Paint to both crabs. Once the paint has dried, apply a layer of Glossy Accents to both crabs. Set aside the crabs so that the Glossy Accents can dry.

Out of the Mini Anchors, you'll need 8 anchors. Apply a coat of Tarnished Brass Distress Paint to each anchor. Once the anchors have dried, apply a layer of Glossy Accents. Set aside the anchors so that the Glossy Accents can dry.

From the Ocean Mix 1 set, you'll need to pull off the Seahorse. Apply a coat of Stormy Sky Distress Paint to the seahorse. Set the seahorse aside to dry.

Out of the Ocean Mix 2 set, you'll need to pull off the plant. Apply a coat of Walnut Stain Distress Paint to the bottom of the plant and apply a coat of Peeled Paint Distress Paint to the top of the plant. Set plant aside to dry.

Out of the Mini Ocean Set, you'll need to cut apart 3 seahorses. From the Ocean Mix 1 set, you'll need to pull off the coral piece. Apply a coat of Tumbled Glass Distress Paint over the seahorses and coral. Set aside the seahorses and coral to dry.

From the Mini Ocean set, you'll need to cut apart 2 dolphins. Apply Broken China Distress Paint to one dolphin. Apply a coat of Tumbled Glass Distress Paint to the other dolphin. Once the paint has dried on the tumbled glass dolphin,  randomly apply Broken China Distress Paint on the dolphin. Set both dolphins aside to dry.

Out of the Mini Ocean Set, cut apart 3 starfish. Apply a coat of Broken China Distress Paint to them. After the paint has dried, apply a layer of Glossy Accents to each starfish. Set aside the starfish so that the Glossy Accents can dry.

From the Ocean Mix 1 set, you'll need to pull apart the sea shell. Out of the Trust Your Heart Wood Tags you'll need the "Live in the Present, Dream in the Future. Apply a coat of Antique Linen Distress Paint to both the seashell and the wood tag. Set aside the seashell and the wood tag to dry.

Before starting to adhere the chipboard pieces to the tag, apply four layers of beachy patterned paper to the tag. Once the patterned paper has been applied, add decorative netting to the bottom right and top left hand corners.

You'll want to start to adhere the chipboard pieces to the tag. First, you'll want to adhere the fish net circle to the back of the ship wheel. After the two pieces have been adhered together, adhere the ship wheel to the middle of the tag. Once the ship wheel is adhered to the middle, start adhering the plant, 2 starfish, seahorse and anchor to the bottom left hand corner of the ship wheel. After all the elements have been adhered in the bottom right hand corner, adhere the Live in the present tag to the right of the plant. Once everything has been adhered in the ship wheel, wrap brown twine around the ship wheel.

In the top left hand corner, you'll adhere the dolphin, crab and 3 anchors as desired. Add some seashells in varying sizes in amongst the chipboard pieces to add some extra interest.

In the bottom right hand corner, you'll adhere the seashell, crab, coral, seahorse, 1 mini starfish, 2 mini seahorses, dolphin and 5 anchors as desired. Add some seashells in varying sizes in amongst the chipboard pieces to add some extra interest.

To finish the tag, add bronze micro beads in amongst the chipboard and shells in the bottom right and top left hand corners. Allow 24 hours for the beads to dry on the tag. Once the beads are dry, add white and brown ribbon to the top of the tag and tie a bow.
