The journey

Southern Ridge Trading Post is now offering you a chance to win these fantastic pieces.
That's right. We are now having monthly challenges
First off is anything goes.
And that means anything.
No need to use chipboard or even a SRTC item.
All of the official rules are here
So, what are you waiting for?
It last the whole month so get to it and let's see what you've got for us.

Ok, on with today's project.

 It's always about the journey.
This card is proof of that

I started out with an end result in mind.
Wanted to do some crackle with the birdhouse white and the flourishes darker,
 brassy, antique looking.
Then I was going to take my Holtz walnut stain and darken up the edges
to enhance the detail a bit.
BUT
My crackle wouldn't crackle.
on a side note, if you know what happened or if this happened to you, please share. :D

I love this SRTC piece Misc-567 so much, I was determined to save it and make something beautiful
Ultimately, I think it came down to having the right paper to enhance and make it pop.

So, what did I end up doing?
White acrylic paint, red glitter emboss in bits on the bird,
copper emboss bits on the flourish and frantage scattered about  on all but the bird.
I added the red gemstone to bring out the bird and gold one on the flourish rail.
The glisten doesn't photograph well but in the end, I'm quite happy with it.

I Hope I've inspired you today to not give up.
Even if the end result is not what you had in mind, the journey is always worth it.
